Summer break / scheduling

I am overwhelmed by the generosity of you all w/ your stories, time and insight. I love this forum for these reasons and so many more: I asked a simple question and received so much information and support in return, its like I feel you all giving me/us/our family a high-five and a huge hug and a "its going to be ok" smile!!

THANK YOU for your replies... @Capt MJ : your posts were great and really helps put me in the right state of mind of my DS immediate plans and reality may not land him home w/ us on EVERY break and for the WHOLE break time. Honestly w/ COVID we have not traveled or they have not hung out w/ friends like they used to (we have traveled all over the country + India + Singapore....my husband was born + raised in Singapore). What I mean is we are a very mobile family, kiddos have had a passport since approx 9 months old and we look at the world as "to be explored". COVID put such a damper on our travel mojo BUT your post reminded me that travel, visiting, friend, new places, etc ARE WHAT LIFE IS ALL ABOUT. Where would we be without those adventures that fill our mind, body + spirit to the brim and over?
Again, thank you all. I will heed all advice, have him put in his preference to hopefully be present for his sister's graduation and then after that...who knows!! :)

And @Stealth_81...roger that....all calls will be answered...thanks for the tip!!!

Singapore…beautiful, many visits there. I was just describing the night food market stalls to one of our USNA sponsor mids as I drove her back to the Yard on Saturday night.
It’s always good to adjust expectations and assumptions to “max flex” setting.

Yes, beautiful, HUMID (but that's ok) and the food? Yum to the yum.....
Max flex setting to the ON position noted.... hehe....

Good AM forum people :)

My DS received his USAFA appointment and will be a doolie this year. I know it may be WAYYY far ahead but I wanted to know when/how, etc his first summer break 2023 is scheduled/given? I think I have read its for 3 weeks?
For context: our DD graduates HS June 2023 and we are trying to see if he will/can be home for that and we may try to plan a family trip also.

Any insights would be MOST appreciated!!
My son will miss his sisters HS graduation this year for Ring Dance. Just bad timing. But when you are a part of USAFA you don't have much say in breaks. You just learned to roll with it and not plan to far in advance.

So sorry to hear about missing the graduation....."rolling w/ it" will be our new mantra :) I am hopeful there will be lots of family + friends there to support her!!

For you class of 26 parents, I highly recommend you practice "finding Waldo"! I don't want to ruin the surprise, but get used to hours of staring at thousands of pictures for a glimpse of an ear.:p Hopefully, there won't be masks this year, so it will be easier! Can I get an Amen?!

Currently our military base let go of masks restrictions so I'm singing that amen ( though I work with food so I still wear it). Any kid in a Hawaiian shirt is probably NWP proud so I had fun counting those last year. I'll be in red btw ;)
