I know the applications are due next 1/15. Do you know when decisions typically go out? Are they via email or snail mail? Is there a wait list? Do they send rejections? If I'm lucky enough to get an offer, how much time will they give me to decide whether to sign up?

Thank you.

There is a waitlist. They do give rejections. My DS was waitlisted and got in last summer. He found out about mid March, if I remember.

I received a email February 20th last year congratulating me on getting accepted to attend Summer Seminar. I did complete my application a couple of days after the applications opened so not sure if that is why I found out sooner. Hope this helps.

I'm guessing my DS heard later due to being waitlisted.

Please keep in mind that being rejected or waitlisted should not discourage you from applying for an appointment. Many candidates get rejected for Summer Seminar but get an appointment to attend the following year. Conversely, those who get accepted to Summer Seminar are not guaranteed an appointment. Summer Seminar is to market the academy, so part of the selection criteria is to market to underserved geographical regions of the country.

I applied to West Point, Naval Academy, and Air Force Summer Seminar and only got into the Air Force Summer Seminar which worked out great, because it was only Academy I wasn’t able to visit before applying to. Now just waiting to see if I get an appointment to USAFA or USNA or both. I decided not to continue my application with West Point.

My DS was denied in early March for summer seminar at USAFA. The same day, we signed him up for a sports camp there so he could spend the week on campus/dorms, etc. He was accepted at USNA summer seminar and was glad to attend to experience the military environment. USNA runs 3 weeks of seminars for about 2400 people whereas USAFA only accepts about 600. He is now a doolie at USAFA.

@DeepWaters If you email them, please post their replies, thanks & good luck!

I forget the reasons why, but I recall being told that in order of having the best experience at SS, its Navy with the best time, followed closely by Army, & then the Air Force :(

I was actually waitlisted in early-mid February and was later offered a spot the first week of March.

I also got my acceptance email Feb. 20th. No snail mail. They gave me til Mar. 6th to accept.

I was waitlisted Feb. 20, and received my acceptance on April 15th. Had to accept by May 2nd.

I just looked into that today... I sent an email through the website on the Contact Us page asking the same question. I got an answer this afternoon explaining that they were behind on acceptance and that they are hoping to let us all know by then end of March, early April at the latest. Don't sweat, you have not missed anything. :)

Yes, they are running behind. Originally, decisions were due in the first week of March. It appears the end of March, or shortly thereafter, is the actual timing for notification. Best of luck with your application!
