Summer Seminar Acceptance Notification + Application question

I didn't check my email yesterday afternoon, but I woke up this morning to find a USAFASS acceptance email greet me! :)
 
I was denied as well, but I've heard that people who have family members that went to/go to USAFA generally have a lower chance of acceptance, as SS is considered a recruitment tool for people unfamiliar with the academies or unlikely to consider them when applying for colleges. Is this true?

Generally, that's what I've heard as well. My ALO explained that many slots are set aside for recruiting and affirmative action-style purposes, and for interesting those who wouldn't normally consider a SA.
