Summer seminar: what does wait listed mean?

Is this a nicer way of saying rejected? How many people get wait listed? How long and what are my chances of finding out if anyspots open up or if I get in?
 
It really just means that you weren't their first choice, but if someone chooses to turn down attending the SS, then, depending how close you are to the top of the list, then you're in! That happened to my brother, except with getting accepted to the Academy as a whole. So don't rule out your chances yet!
 
My son was also waitlisted two years ago. Don't be shy about contacting the Academy. Persistence pays off sometimes. My son finally received an acceptance to summer session on 3/31/11. He totally enjoyed it and he is just getting ready to be Recognized in a few weeks. Good Luck!!!
 
I was wait listed two years ago but after a couple of weeks of anxious anticipation I did get in, I just couldn't pick what session I wanted to go to because there was only room in one of them. Since there were three sessions my year it might be a little different though...
