Ok, well first off, I want to wish every USAFA applicant/parent/familymember good luck!!!

Anyways... nominations... I applied for a total of 4... the (1.) presidential, (2.) local congressman, and (3&4) both senators.

In short, I got all FOUR nominations! (very thrilled) But I don't understand HOW I got both senators' nomination

Quick note: I live in Maryland.

Anyways, here's the quick summary:

Before I had my last interview, I had THREE nominations (presidential, congressman, senator A)... and I was aiming for 4. During my last interview for my 2nd Senator's nomination (senator B), I was immediately told I could not receive a nomination from him! The second I sat down in the chair, the review board said "Well, Sam, you are an excellent candidate, but in the state of Maryland, you can only receive ONE nomination from either senator. You already have one nomination from senator A, so you can't actually get one from us" (I guess they do this so they can nominate more candidates). They made it absolutely clear that I could not receive the nomination, so instead they just "practice interviewed" me (I wasn't too happy at the time). Anyways, I was really upset, a 3 hour round-trip drive for nothing (this was about 5 weeks ago). Then boom, yesterday, I get a letter from senator B saying "Congratulations! you have been nominated to USAFA by senator B!"

I am very confused!!! How did I manage to get both senators nominations?

Anything we can say would be mere speculation. Congratulations on the 4th nomination. Now you just need to patiently wait to see if one of your 4 lottery tickets is a winner.

It's up to the Senators. If they want to nominate the same people they can.

Pretty rare in MD, Sen Cardin usually refuses to give a nom to anyone who already has one from the Rep or one from Sen Mikulski.

Good luck.
