I am thinking of getting a tattoo this year, it would be 1.5 inches and on my upper arm, however I am hesitant as I have already been medically qualified on DoDMERB, and do not want to possibly complicate anything. Can I still get the tattoo, and does anyone have experience with this?

... don't do it. Ppperrrioood!

I can write here a 300-word risk assessment with a 200% certainty of high risk endeavor. Don't. Do. It.

When raising our son, we had one supreme mantra to guide him: "Don't do stupid stuff!" Getting a tattoo during the application and matriculation process falls into the category of decisions to be evaluated under this guidance.

DS also wanted to get a tattoo early on in the process, but decided to wait until after Cow year. During that time he changed his mind several times about design and finally decided on one that he is still happy with five years later.

When I was growing up I knew that I shouldn’t be doing stupid stuff, every one was telling that. The challenge was to sort out what is stupid and what isn’t.

... still remember my first platoon sergeant (25 years ago) who told me to never get a tattoo. Why? He said God gave you a perfect body and don't ruin it. I gave the same advice to DS '26.

1.5 inches on the upper arm isnt bad. just make sure the tattoo isn't something inappropriate. I knew a few cadets with some profanity and it raised some eyebrows. too many people get tattoos that age poorly and then its more money getting thrown into it to fix it/cover it up. im NOT going to tell you to not get a tattoo, just make sure its smart

i WILL advise you to wait until the academic year. take the time to consider the tattoo and if its something you actually want. until then, save up some money because tattoos can be expensive. do your research on where you want to get the tattoo done too. like previous posts said, learn the regs, but nowadays, most things that are hideable fly. im not going to spit regulation at you because to tell you the truth, i dont like reading about regulation either LOL. also wait until the academic year because you never know where you will be until then. life happens and changes many plans

Class of 2027 here. I got a giant rib tattoo the April before R-Day, showed up, and there were no complications. A lot of cadets here have tattoos, so as long as it's in army regulation, you should be fine.
