Does anyone have any insight into how extensive teacher evals are? My lab science teacher for physics only does 12 LoR each year and I did not get one. I am planning on asking him to do my evaluation as it is required for Kings Point and encouraged for the other academies I want to apply to (USAFA and USNA respectively), but I would like to know how extensive it is and how much work before I ask him for the evaluation.

It is not very long and your teachers should be able to complete the eval in 10-15 minutes. Do you have another teacher you could use as a reference? I have never heard of a teacher having a quota for evals. It does not seem like you are likely to receive a good eval if you were not one of the select 12. As a side note, you should always give a potential reference a copy of your resume to make the process easier for them. Do not wait for the last minute to ask for a reference. My two KP kids got theirs submitted by July.

There is some guidance at Admissions. You will have to go online and submit the teacher details (names, school, email addresses, etc.) and in approximately 4 hours an email will be sent to the teacher with instructions. They do the eval online.

Well it was a quota for Letters of Recommendation and when he was initially talking about it the impression I had from him was that he really does not like writing them. I have other teachers that I can use for a letter of reference (Calc BC and AP Lit) so that should not be an issue. I am going to ask him tomorrow about the evaluation. Working on my resume right now. Thank you.
