For those of you who haven't completed the application yet (what are you waiting for) you still have until early January to get it started. Additionally if you started the application but haven't completed the personal statement or additional SAL attributes sections of the app here is some advice.

Other full disclosure...I've never been on a board, so this stuff is just a best guess. I have looked at more than a few applications, and I've been around the block a couple times, but as with anything on the internet...

I actually did look at the Army core values and integrated some of them. Personally, I already had an idea of how I wanted my essay, but and was then able to integrate them into the paper.
I second this advice wholeheartedly, do not just use them as buzzwords. Write what you actually mean. The personal statement is a chance for the board to see who you are beyond all the simple stats.
