Hello, I am currently a candidate for USAFA's class of 2022. I have received three congressional nominations to USAFA, two from my senators (both no preference) and one from my MOC (as 1st alt. and they have two appointments to grant this year.) I am wondering how much having three nominations will help y chances of appointment. I know I only have to wait for a few more weeks, but this has been nagging me for a while now. Any insight is much appreciated!

Having three in theory opens more opportunities. It gives you three opportunities to win a slate. If not, you'll end up on the NWL.

DS had three and wasn't the primary on any, but he was offered an appointment and is a C4C now.

How did you find out they have two appointments to grant? Is there some way to find out this information other than asking them directly?

I was told when the office called to notify me of my nomination. I was told I was the 1st alternate and he said "not to worry" because they had two slots for appointment this year.

Hope your DS is doing well! Thanks for the insight.

My DS only received an email stating he received a nomination and then a week or so later, an official letter from the MOC office. I do know that he does not choose a principal nominee; he leaves that to USAFA.

It only takes one to get in. It's hard just sit and wait for the announcement. At this point, you did everything that could have done. Just enjoy the rest of your senior year and don't get into any trouble. The big wave of appointments come out in mid-March and its only month away. Good Luck to you.

Amen to that. DS had three with LOA's on his slate who have accepted, so he's holding out hope to get a spot from the NWL. Only takes one, but wish we had three! Congrats on three noms! And good luck to everyone!
