"The Wait List" Club.....

Remember...follow your dream...the path getting there is the experience & it's soooooo worth the trip! :thumb:

Hi Everyone - i just wanted to keep this thread alive until it is completely extinguished. Hopefully, CGA has their power back on and we'll start to hear something this week. It's suppose to be a nice week in these parts :smile: and we're still keeping those fingers and toes crossed.

Well...has anyone heard if the power is back on at USCGA? Or if anyone made the short list? Any info would be greatly appreciated! :biggrin:

Yes the power is back on... Cadets are probably happy they will be able to sleep in their own rooms tonight!

Should hear something this week.

I talked to Admissions last friday and they were crazy trying to get caught up. The power failure put them about a week behind. My AO advised to be patient and we should hear something this week or at least by June 1st, they were still crunching numbers and seeing where they are at. Sooo the wait continues and good things come with patience.

Another seven day wait = that's easy at this point. Come on email! Keeping hopes up for everyone.:thumb:

I can't belive what a CRAZY year this has been for applications to CGA.

First off, just the HUGE number of applications, add to that the WICKED weather that the Northeast experienced this winter and then, if that wasn't BAD enough, losing electricity when so many CAPABLE and READY candidates are still waiting to hear....I am just hoping and praying that some of these GREAT kids are pulled off the waiting list!!!!!

STILL, keeping everything crossed for you!!!!

Those who have not received an answer yet via email, snail mail, or telephone may want to contact their AAP today for a status update.

:wink:

DW just shared with me; she wants to see those names printed on the Class of 2014 t-shirt. Class is so close to being full.
Would like to encourage all those not gaining an appointment to reapply next year. :thumb:

Well. I didn't make the cut, if there even is a short notice waitlist this year. :frown:

I hadn't received anything, and I called about an hour ago and was told that everyone on the waitlist, including me, was cut because the class was completely full. Why the wink luigi?

This week is going to be very difficult for many of our young ones....BUT until each of you have heard from someone at the academy or rec'd TWE in the mail...or yada...yada...yada...DON'T LOSE FAITH! Anything is possible....wish we had an icon of a lil' guy with fingers and toes crossed! LOL!!

PS92...can't answer for Luigi but I'm sorry about your news...Wishing you great success with plan B and enjoy the ride!

Sorry to hear that you did not get in. This was a very competitive year, many qualified applicants are also going elsewhere this year.

The "wink" was a subtle "hint" that you should contact your AAP today as they "may" have access to new information released to them in the last 24 hours.

:cool:

I had the same question. I was guessing the people who do the interviews for the Academy, but no idea. And googling acronyms never works.

And has anyone on the waitlist actually heard anything one way or another yet? Everything official-ish I've seen has said June 1st, June 1st, June 1st.

(Yeah, I'm new here. And have completely lost my mind, but [shrugs].)

I apologize for my ignorance, but what is AAP?

Each academy uses volunteers to attend college fairs, visit high schools, interview prospective students, interact with Congressmen, parents, and generally promote their academy.

The USCGA calls them "Academy Admissions Partners." There are over 800 across the USA.

USCGA = AAP
USNA = BGO
USAFA = ALO
USMA = MALO
USMMA = AFR

"Just got some stats on acceptances/declines for Class of 2014. However, not sure if I can disclose this or not. I am an AAP. Sorry to tease you but I'm checking and will post more info later if I can."

"I've just seen the data, too. I guess you, me, USNA1982BGO, BruceTalbot, robin820, and mnolan can all talk about it to each other via PM......^^^"

"My impression was that only Admissions was permitted to release. Luigi and Steve, PM me and we'll debate"

"^^^But now we'll drive them all over the edge.....Way to go Boss"

"....and then depression set in...."

"Those who have not received an answer yet via email, snail mail, or telephone may want to contact their AAP today for a status update."

"Looks like a really big class coming in. All I'm sayin'"

With all the cryptic messages I thought the AAP was a chapter of the Masonic Lodge.
