I was reading through my scholarship offer again and read this
Four year scholarship winners are authorized a travel allowance upon initial enrollment in the Army ROTC scholarship program.

Does anyone have any experience with this? (How much does it cover? Is it for all four years or just the first flight to the college?)

Our family was very intrigued by that line, too. I'd also like to know if anybody has experience with this. Sure sounds awfully generous.:thumb:

I do remember reading somewhere about the travel allowance and it was in regards to traveling to and from advanced camps associated with ROTC. Things like the Leadership training camp.

Not sure if this still applies but here is my experience with AROTC in 2007....

Son received 4yr AROTC scholarship to LSU. We live near Houston. Sometime in first semester he was reimbursed for mileage from Houston to Baton Rouge. It is a one-time deal for the first trip. I don't know what the process would be if airfare is involved. I know detailed receipts would be required.

My daughter is a freshman this year and was paid for travel following arrival. The student is paid mileage not to exceed the cost of airfare and no receipts were required. I believe, but am not sure, that it is a one time deal and is only paid coming in for the freshman year. NROTC by the way.

AROTC sholarship for my son in 2008. Asked about but did not recieve travel reimbursement. But, he flew in from Singapore.
