Can anyone tell me how we may get reimbursed for car travel to the Academy for Indoc? I understand if flying they will pick up the cost of the ticket, but it does not say how to make arrangements if driving. Thanks!

Give your kid all of your gas receipts and he will turn them in at some point during Indoc. They pay you so many cents a mile. It was something like 30-something cents a mile if I recall correctly. Not sure what it is this year. My son was thrilled when the academy direct deposited 250 bucks into his Naval Credit Union account & he claimed it as his very own. Good luck trying to get it back from your kid. LOL The info was located in son's logging in booklet somewhere. You guys don't find anything in there about it? Might be wise to call up there & ask.

FYI - The academy does not pick up hotel expenses.

No, you remember it all wrong Boss. That would have been ME picking up the tab. Geez, but I can't help feeding Mids. They are like stray puppies. After they've been there a while *Delano cough cough* I feel its my duty to look for hungry Mids any time I go to NY now.

Wish I had known that a year ago. I knew he/we were supposed to be reimbursed travel but I didn't know they paid mileage. Somewhere they had given us a listing that had the amount of reimbursement depending on where you travelled from. I kept asking my kid if he was reimbursed and he kept saying he didn't know. I think I may have to check out his bank statements if he saved them. So I should save my receipts when I go up there Monday to haul him home? Atleast the ones for the trip from KP to here.

The mids get reimbursed for their travel to indoc and also the travel from KP to their home of record after graduation. Those are the two reimbursable travel expenses beyond the sea year stuff.

That's right. I had forgotten. They pay for your first trip there and then you're last trip home. Guess I was just hoping for some help with these gas prices!
