Turned Down by USNA

DS was also turned down in his first attempt, and made it as a college re-applicant. It was hard to face going through the whole process again, but it was familiar and way less nerve racking (e.g., those nomination interviews will be old hat). Best of luck to you!

Sorry to hear the news Joe. Best of luck and hope to see a BFE for you this time next year!

I also received the same email today. Was very disheartening at first, but I'm reminded that there other opportunities. I do plan to reapply for c/o 2024 and hope for a different result. Good luck to all of those still waiting, plan Bs for those turned down and to those who will be a part of the c/o 2023!

I just got the email notifying me of a status change. I was turned down. I do plan to reapply next year. Congrats to all who received offers of appointments this year.
Sorry to hear Joe. Your heartfelt posts resonated with me and I was really pulling for you. You seem like a genuinely good person. Good luck in your reapplication (hopefully!) or any other path you may choose.

Got the same email today, time to start preparing plan B and looking into reapplying next year. Congrats to all of those that have been admitted to the class of 23!

Each year amazingly qualified students are told “not yet”. It’s very humbling to read the stories of these fine candidates, willing to serve!

You have all grown throughout this process. And are ALL winners for getting so far! I have said before, that the growth, maturity and confidence gained by going through the application process was SO evident in our own DS, that whether or not he received an appointment, he was a better person!

A TWE doesn’t mean NO, it means “not yet”. If this is truly you passion, see you next year! My favorite stories to read are those of re-applicants. And not a single one says they regretted the year of growth they had before reapplying. Best wishes to all. In a short while, the disappointment of today will be absorbed into the fascination and excitement of your tomorrows!!

That sucks. I’ve been there. But I reapplied and now I’m here at the Academy. There’s always hope, good luck with reapplying!
Maybe you can offer some hope... do you know if many are still offered appointments in April?

You are likely to get differing opinions from SAF members, but only individuals directly involved in the USNA admissions process know how many more offers of appointment will be released (and when). As you have doubtless seen throughout these threads, as long as you have not received a TWE, your application is still in play (just make sure plans b and c are ready to go). Good luck.

Could someone suggest how much weight a BGO interview has in the app process ?

Good luck all ☘️

A year ago our DD was turned down by everyone. She went to NWP school. Upped her SATs and CFAs. Dramatically. Gave her more confidence and fought on. So far she has been accepted to West Point and USCGA. She is waiting on Navy as thats her first choice. Re-apply!! She is so glad she did now. Last year this time was very difficult. Prep school was best thing we could have done for her. Never Give Up!
