UH-60 Crash

Dan was a West Point grad and a distance runner on the track team. He was an all around good kid who matured into a better man, from a deeply faith filled family. His dad is retired FDNY, and Dan‘s career path was greatly influenced , as so many of us can also attest to, by the events of 9/11. So much so, that his class ring has, as its stone, glass from the Trade Center. please keep his grieving family, and the families of his crew mates in your prayers. Our community is devastated, I cannot even fathom what theor families are going through.

That’s sooooo heartbreaking. All these families forever changed. My heart goes out to them all 💔

For those who are curious about CW2 Prial’s rank, it is not unusual in Army Aviation for commissioned officers to transition to warrant officers if they go into the Guard/Reerves.

Went out for take out tonight. Some of the caretakers for the West Point cemetery were at the bar. The ones like this have an affect. They expect the old fogies like me who have lived a life. But the young ones... I guess that affects them.
I bought them a round.

That's 3 fatal Guard Blackhawk crashes in the span of about a year. Unheard of. The Minnesota Guard crash in December 2019 was attributed to maintenance.
Experience is normally not an issue with Guard aviation units. Mine was typical. Most of us had numerous active duty assignments. Most were also pilots in their "civilian" lives as well, airline pilots, police pilots, EMS pilots. I don't think we had an instructor pilot with less than 15 years of flying experience. The same with our mechanics. They were top-notch.
We flew rings around most active-duty units.
A sad month.
"Fly West..."

Absolutely a terrible thing to hear. Prayers for all involved and specifically the families.

It "feels" like there is something going on. Too many incidents in too short of a timeframe. We need to get to the bottom of it - asap.

Ugh, this is so sad. I really had to look twice, I was hoping I was reading about a prior crash and tragic loss of life. Not a new one. Something needs someone's attention asap. Thoughts are with their families and mates.
