Does anyone have compression underwear they recommend? DS is not a fan of cotton. I have seen threads talking about how white is not a necessity. Is this true?
 
White is not required.
I do not make underwear recommendations, I’ll leave that to others.

Never gave underwear a consideration.
I need for DD to find The Needs list.
 
I believe color of underwear really only matters at USNA, where summer whites have a way of revealing your choice that day. In which case, I believe gray compression shorts tend to be the best option.
 
It’ll only be white on I-day. It’ll be shades of gray or green by A-day :) Cadets by then will not wear them any longer and more likely toss them. You can bring their favorite underwear either on A-day or Parents weekend.
 
During my Navy career, ship’s laundry turned all my white lady-skivvies gray anyway, so I am highly entertained by both the title of this thread, and the posts. Not something you would find outside the SA/SMC world, I suspect!

Not as much of an issue for those services without white uniform items.

And I will never forget Royal Navy exchange officer, “Leftenant” Clive (surname), RN, wearing red heart dotted boxers under his tropical-weight thin cotton summer whites with white knee socks, and standing in the row in front of me at the uniform inspection. Our whole row was trying not to laugh, which made it worse.

Nor was it wasted on me either, THParent. But I have been accused of being a jokester and making light of topics, so I withheld my comments, but since the door has been opened, I also noted the irony that shock-n-awe was the second post. I will stop, still a little gun shy coming off my 6 month ban and all:)
 
You will need a pair or two of white underwear for parade dress, but that won't be worn until spring of your freshman year. No need to bring white underwear to BCT unless you want to.
 
Much admiration to @Capt MJ for seamlessly squeezing the term “lady skivvies” into a SAF post. Relevant and informative, and not gratuitous or prurient at all. Not easy to do.
