I was just wondering what uniforms are worn at the academy usually? ODU's, Trops?? And for what kind of occasions do they change?

Trops, ODUs and SDBs typically. Sometimes they change depending on the time of the week, and any events.

6 white crew neck tshirts
6 white vneck tshirts
6 white tube socks
WHERE do you suggest we write her name on these items? on the back inside of the neck? or on the bottom fron hem ????
do they wear white trousers?? ARGHHHHHHH CALGON take me away....
do you have any idea how hard it was to find TUBE SOCKS, let alone plain white ones ?!?!?!? OMG..... what a chore.....

at NMMI (after 8/4/09) they do.. but when they get sworn in at USCGA on 7/24 they are issued CG uniforms.....
Uniforms at CGAS
During the CGAS orientation period, they will receive several sets of shorts and t-shirts that say CGAS on them (my daughter proudly wore them to the gym the last 1 & 1/2 months she was home). They also receive two sets of Coast Guard uniforms (pardon me for not knowing the correct terminology because I'm not from a military background -- that's changing
- I looked it up on google). I think they are called tropical uniforms or summer undress uniforms. She wore this when she flew home (really sharp looking!!!) Once she gets to NMMI, she will wear their uniforms (my D thought the ones at MMI looked like Civil War uniforms 
)

The color of the uniform is close to the one of the Air Force. And the service whites are the same as the Navy's. The different is probably the cover which has a different insignia to identify that it is Coast Guard. Other than that the cover is fairly similar to the combo. cover of the Navy's.
J Collins~ On Saturday, at our plebe picnic, several mids said not to mark any of the clothing in advance. They mentioned that the plebe candidates will stencil their name, company and number onto their clothing during the first several nights of Indoc.

I think you mean, Navy cover's are similar to the Coast Guard covers. And the Air Force color is close to the Coast Guard colors.
The Coast Guard changed from khaki uniforms to "Bender Blues" under the Commandant, ADM Bender.
Now the Coast Guard can't be confused with it's younger sister sea service, the U.S. Navy.
