Congratulations!
My son received his appointment to USAFA in March 2021. It was the only SA he had not visited before Covid hit. He visited and spent time/overnights at the other 4. He was not thrilled with the chance of not visiting USAFA before accepting. We booked what is referred to as "the windshield tour" the first week of April. He wasn't able to talk to cadets or go in any of the buildings because of Covid. As soon as he arrived, he knew that was where he wanted to go. He accepted his appointment before returning home. He's been happy ever since!
My DD was told also only windshield tour this year too, but a fee states over it is

In my DS' portal, it only shows all green checkmarks, it doesn't say dates or anything else, but he did get dodmerb conf by USAFA maybe he still has the old portal interface

I don’t see either, but have received an email about being medically qualified. I have not received an email about CFA qualified, but I submitted (after failing the first one) and got no email back so I assume it’s fine? Both have green check marks. CFA was submitted mid-December the second time so that was a while ago
I didn’t get an email about my CFA qualifying, just that it was submitted. I think silence is the best indicator.

Be careful about basing your decision on a campus visit. In what service do you want to serve for the next 20+ years. USMA is a beautiful campus, but do you want to have an Army lifestyle. Likewise, with USNA, 4 years at the boat school may be just what you want right now, but, looking forward, how do you feel about sea tours, etc. Same idea for USAFA. What do you want to do as an officer, and for whom, versus what school do you want to attend? Those are very different things.

Huh, that is significantly more informative. Mine just says this:
Mobile screenshot but desktop is the same thing.

There’s also a tab that tells me what my test score is but that’s all
Same here

Great points! My DS wanted to fly and had researched all the SAs since he was 10. He didn’t even apply to all of them based on research and how he felt about his career. At least what you can at the age of 17! 😊

Congratulations!

Will keep this in mind :)

Although it is difficult to get an in-person tour at USAFA, I will say that online tour is absolutely incredible! They show a ton of stuff that I experienced when I got an opportunity to visit the campus, and it was almost as good as the in-person visit. I don’t want to spoil it, so definitely check that out if you haven’t already!

Both Windsheild and in person discover USAFA admission tours are available each week. We have done both and they are amazing. I would spend two days and do both, because you see so much on the windshield tour that you don't take the time to see with the discover USAFA. But, with the discover your you will get to ask admission questions and really get a feel of the life there. Here is the link to sign up for both of them:

is falcon scholarship only used to pay for civil prep? does it have anything to do with the USAFA or the prep school?
Falcon Scholarships to prep schools are funded by the USAFA alumni organization. Admissions lets them know who they would like them offered to. USAFA Admissions takes care of USAFAPS offers.

So the falcon scholarship is given out every year by the falcon foundation. They are not run by USAFA however they do work with USAFA. The same group who decides who get into USAFA, decides who gets the scholarships. About 80 are given out each year. Only 100 are possible and it's based on donations.

These scholarships are to send you to one of the 5 civilian prep schools. Most are two semesters and mine was one. The scholarship will cover a decent amount. Most falcons pay around 5,000 total but there's a whole break down when you get the scholarship. My scholarship for NWP only covers the prep school cost and not my public college cost for second semester. I'll probably pay around 4,000 dollars total for tuition and books. 2,700 for my college and around 1,300 for NWP. This does not include any travel costs, or other supplies I had to buy for NWP.

Falcon Scholars are given a contract with scholarship which breaks down to the following: Pass prep school, complete 15 credit hours of the classes we tell you to take, score A's and B's, get a nomination, andddd then if you get an acceptance go to USAFA. Falcons have a 97% acceptance rate into USAFA. If you want to learn more they have website!

thanks for that. My son is still waiting on the decision from USAFA and has been appointed to MMI as a backup as well as an opportunity to do ROTC at a state school. we are visiting MMI next week. I am wondering what the odds are that he's able to pull an appointment after a year if he is not a sponsored cadet. We can certainly self sponsor and I think the experience would be great for him regardless, but I definitely want to set expectations. Will get a better feeling meeting with LTC Bowen at MMI next week.

concerning the nomination .... if you received a nomination to the MA's but are not accepted and then get the Falcon Scholarship ... when you re-apply, must you also re-apply for the nomination or can you use the one you already have?
