USAFA Changes Policy on Athletes

The AF made the change on their own then a few days later came the department wide change of policy.

I believe it would have been Mattis' recommendation first, then approved by the upper level.

"Upper level"???, the only one above Mattis is the President who doesn't have to be consulted on such matters. I am quite sure it was a SECDEF decision, seems like one of the few people in government with enough common sense to want consistent rules.

Looks like SECDEF reversed the policy (DOD wide) on 29Apr for all SAs and ROTC -- back to a minimum of 2 years. Interestingly, the memo cites professional activities with professional sports as an example.

Can't do it for all academies.... just the big 3.
