RickD_USAF..I started on this forum a month or so before your DS received his appointment to USAFA. I was so encouraged reading your posts about the ups and downs, how ROTC/USCGA were all in the mix, then the late appointment news, then having to hustle to get everything ready to report to Colorado Springs. I was so encouraged, in fact, that I shared your journey with my whole family over dinner one evening after it happened. My DS had applied and been turned down from SS and was feeling a bit discouraged as he began the formal application process. Your DS's journey was a great encouragement/testimony to my son. I too was elated when you were able to add your DS's name to the list! As a dad, I was so happy and encouraged to see your son's aspirations to serve come to fruition in this way, even with the other great options he had. My DS has finished his applications to USAFA and USNA with his application/CFA/interviews/DoDMERB completed since October, with MOC interviews completed (still waiting on nomination status). I am thankful to have accidentally found this forum and been exposed to you and others who have gone through this process ahead of us. Through my DS, and all of you on this forum, I have learned so much about this process. Good to know there are so many fine young men and women who have a desire to serve. Through this process, I have reminded my son to take care of his part thoroughly, honestly, and to the best of his abilities, which he has done admirably, then let the pieces fall as they may. He has taken care of his other applications and scholarship apps and the like, but will continue to know that as long as you have put your best effort forward, and have not received a TWE, you are still in the game. Thank you all for your posts, keep them coming as they may encourage others you may never know.So awesome seeing this again, one year later. I recall monitoring our thread for 21'ers and was stoked when I added my DS's name to the list.
Congratulations Class of 2022 and welcome to the USAFA family.
Sure. I have much of it in this older thread:Now. DS just got the call this afternoon from our representative! We are waiting until it shows up on his portal before posting it to this thread.
Congrats! Would you mind sharing your DS’ stats?
Wishing your family the best and hoping the nomination and appointment finds you. It's a long journey. Sometimes it ends the way we wish, and other times not so much. But, if you gave it your best...then that's all you can ask for. Have a solid plan B just in case. Shoot me message if he gets in. Glad we could inspire others.RickD_USAF..I started on this forum a month or so before your DS received his appointment to USAFA. When did you all submit your application? I got my appointment from Navy about a week after completing my application... I asked my admissions counselor and my application hasn't even gone to the board yet, and it's been almost a month. Waiting's the hardest part!
Ha. You figured me out Zoomie90. I was a 92 guy. Thanks.
