Only thing I can find so far is iday size was 1164. Usually day of they come out with the class break down by men, women, minorities, pilot qualified etc. Anyone have this information yet?

Class state were released yesterday,

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- (The Air Force Academy’s Class of 2024 reported for basic training June 25. Here is the breakdown.)

According to a report released by the Admissions Office at the Air Force Academy July 9, 1,145 cadets arrived at the school to begin Basic Cadet Training.

Successfully completing BCT’s six weeks of mental and physical training is among the first steps new cadets take toward earning a commission as an Air or Space force officer.

The Stats
Cadets from every state were admitted to the academy, along with 15 international students. That is 346 women, 30.2 % of the class, and 799 men, 69.8 percent of the class. Their average high school GPA is 3.86.

-- 730 cadets are non-minorities; 134 are Asian; 103 are African American; 26 are Pacific Islanders; 10 are Native American; and 12 are unknown. One-Hundred forty-two are Hispanic.

The Class of 2024 includes 63 sons and 35 daughters of service academy graduates, 8.6 percent of the class. Forty-five men and 24 women are sons and daughters of Academy graduates. Both parents of five men and five women in the Class of 2024 attended the Academy.

-- Seven men and nine women are the children of U.S. Military Academy graduates

-- Seven men and two women are the children of U.S. Naval Academy graduates

-- One cadet is the son of a U.S. Coast Guard Academy graduate and three cadets are the sons of U.S. Merchant Marine Academy graduates

-- 181 cadets are first-generation college students; 134 cadets are from single parents homes, and 61 cadets are prior enlisted service members

-- 189 cadets graduated from the Air Force Academy Preparatory School

-- 276 cadets are recruited athletes

it would be nice to see how many of these numbers overlap. ie: are any of the recruited athletes Prep School grads? Things like that. Unduplicated data is much more helpful but I know they don't do it that way.

If it helps, I can give you the general information on my DS who is a member of the class of 2024.
Male, non-minority, non-military (including parents), direct appointment, 3.89 unweighted GPA, 33 ACT, 2 varsity sports ( captain of XC team), SGA, NHS, Salutatorian and was part of CAP.

Our DD is in the class of 2024 as well (currently in the midst of BCT). Here are her stats:
Female, non-minority, non-military association, direct appointment, 3.92 unweighted GPA/4.65 weighted, 32 ACT, 10 AP courses, 2x captain of varsity swim team, founded the high school engineering club (1,600 total students), non-recruited athlete.

Individual stats are meaningless most of the times and the averages are almost the same. Remember, this is not a National Competition for the most part. You are competing on your nominations slate not against every other applicant. As highlighted above, the prior service and prep school applicants are competing for a different opening than a kid from an MOC district. Some districts may have multiple candidates with 34-35 ACTs and 4.0 GPAs and only one may get in. Other districts are won with a 3.5 GPA and ACT of 28.

In my humble opinion, posting or looking at stats is just a step to be proud of your child but they have little value to anyone else to gauge if the will have a chance.

If you want to know national averages I believe AFROTC only cares about your grades, test scores, resume, fitness scores, and interview. Academy there's no way to know your chances really.

Thank you for your opinion! I must say, yes I am in fact a proud parent of a DS who is presently a basic and part of the class of 2024. That is not the reason though I supplied my DS's information, rather I was responding to a request for information from the post on SAT/ACT, along with grouping information. While I couldn't supply the 2024 class breakdown as I whole, I could shed some light on my DS's qualifications. You are correct, there are many other factors that go into the makeup of a class and from what i have seen no one on this site can offer the answer. We can only offer our personal experiences.
