USAFA Waiting Page C/O 2028

Our son has a Letter of Encouragement, has all green checks in the portal (including the MOC nomination), and is waiting. Sorry for asking a seemingly dumb question, but when a decision is made, will the decision be indicated as a follow-up letter when you click the blue box that says "View Your Decision"?

All green checks and an LOE/LOA, still waiting.

For my DD, the envelope and view your decision disappeared and then reappeared about a week later with the appointment.

Congressman may call first. They are notified before the portal is updated. If they do not call, you will just see it in your portal. My ds did get an email that said there was an update.

Our Congressman forwarded an email from the academy stating my DS was accepted and that his portal would reflect the acceptance 3-4 days later. We checked the portal daily and it actually showed accepted in the portal 1 day before the email from the academy was sent to him.
 
For DS: his portal was updated first, then representative called the following day, and then, two days later, congressman called.
 
This is kind of a stupid question but if you didn’t receive a nomination are there steps or work arounds to get one? Is this something you could contact admissions about or is not having a nomination throwing you out of the game completely

A nomination is a must have. There are no waivers or ways around it. Even Falcon Scholars must obtain a new nomination, and may not use a previous nomination. No nomination, no go. It doesn't throw you out of the game completely in the sense that you may apply again next year until you turn 22. (Less than 23 by July 1st the year you'd enter the academy.)

There are no actions available for the applicant.

That being said, if the Academy really really wants somebody or needs to pull from the pool of qualified candidates who did not receive a nomination, then the Service Academy Superintendents their own nominations. An applicant cannot apply for one directly. They are very limited.

Wow, un pajaro! USAFA and USMA in one day?? Congrats!
 
So understanding that past patterns are not necessarily reliable for future predications, based upon USAFA Classes of 2026 and 2027 appointment announcements, a good chunk of them happen during the 2nd through 4th Weeks of March.

And interestingly there are candidate appointments with LOAs as late as late March and April (could be medical waiver issues).

That will also be the case this year. Col. Pipes said that 50% of appointments will come in March.

My ds's two best friends at USAFA got their appointments in April and May. Neither had waiver issues, they were just late appointments. DS got his during the big wave in mid-March.

My portal doesn’t have a blue box that says “view your decision” is this the application page?
