USAFA Waiting Page C/O 2028

My DS reached out to his MOC yesterday regarding his status. As of yesterday TX 36 was not aware of any appointments yet for any of their nominees for any SA and told my DS in years past it has been into June to hear of appointments. This was encouraging that maybe he’s still in the game but JUNE! I’m not sure we will make it to June🤣

Has anyone heard anything from admissions the past few days? Seems kind of crazy how quiet it is with the 15th just 5 days away.

Looking at the appointing list, people are talking about “admissions said that c/o 2028 is the most competetive class they have had in a long time.”. It’s really odd cause I have heard this about Virginia Tech as well when I applied, and many of the nominations sources I got correspondence from said the same thing about their respective applicants. Why is there such an uptick in competitiveness I’m not just USAFA, but across the board in general?
Well, in general, civilian colleges say this every year, but it may actually have some truth this time due to covid messing up lots of classes that came before us. So we might be the most competitive they’ve seen in a while. But on top of that, I would venture to guess that the worsening economy might be reviving a sense of nationalism in lower economic classes? Which would lead to more interest in militaristic things and subsequently the great offer service academies provide.

Still waiting in Indiana. Cancelling our travel plans for a visit on 4/12. Hopefully will reschedule but waiting until we hear a decision.

With all 3 nominations, my DS decided to commit to a different university. She can't wait any longer on scholarships. SO disappointed that this took so long! Good luck everyone who is still waiting!

What is forcing this decision now? Does she have a deadline to accept from the other university? Why come so far into this process and walk away with a week or two left to go?
And how are you disappointed that this took so long? The timeline for appointments is a known quantity when you apply. There is nothing unusual about this year’s appointment timeline.

That’s unfortunate.

Good luck to your son (daughter?).

Unfortunately it’s the nature of the beast. With all that’s required of an obtaining an appointment.
