As I said, they seemed to be pretty pessimistic and while in my case I can't say I am too optimistic, I do not believe it is possible for a full class to have been made at this point in time.

Of course she can answer. "I've been accepted to X and tentatively planning to attend. I'm still anxiously awaiting word from USAFA." Done. That's an answer. Who wouldn't be satisfied with that?


Not important.


Put in a deposit. If a USAFA appointment comes, then respectfully inform the university that she will not be able to attend. Most universities are very understanding. Worst case a little money is lost.


Deciding now really only buys a handful of "peace of mind" weeks before she'd find out anyway. Is this short relief really worth it?

Thank you for all that point by point feedback. I have always found these forums informative and helpful rather than judgemental so these comments are a first for me.

Regardless, she found out today that she did not get accepted but rather waitlisted for a Falcon Foundation Scholarship so I guess it all worked out the way it was supposed to.

Falcon foundation is the prep school that isn't USAFA Prep School but a different military prep school. Waitlisted means that all the slots been taken and you are on a list. Whoever decides to decline the slot, the people on the waitlist will take it. It's not a rejection but it's also not an acceptance, it's in the middle.

Still no decision. Someone else from my district was waitlisted to prep today. Wondering if this is a good or bad sign for me.
 
If waitlists are going out - does that mean there definitely isn’t room in the class at prep anymore?

They most likely have made their final decisions and those will probably come out next week and rejections the week after.
 
College reapplicant here. Just got a portal update notifying I am waitlisted for direct appointment to the academy as all slots are full. Accepted the waitlist slot and it says I should know by May 15th a final decision
 
If they have made their final decisions, why are there districts with applicants that haven’t been notified at all? Wouldn’t they just send in the decision once it’s made? Why hold it off till next week?
 
Not sure. Maybe there are still appointments waiting to go out but portals just haven’t updated.
