USAFA Waiting Page C/O 2028

Directly from my falcon foundation waitlist letter:

"We are currently unable to offer you an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy or one of our preparatory programs. All our programs are currently full. However, we have determined that you would be an excellent candidate to receive a Falcon Foundation Scholarship and attend one of our Falcon Foundation schools should an opening become available. Therefore, we are offering you the opportunity to be placed on our waitlist for a Falcon Foundation Scholarship."

Whether this means full enough to bar me from entry, or already full across the board is unclear. But do with that what you will...

It probably means that all the slots are full for the nominations that you have. There may be other's that have nominations that have not been filled.

If i understand it correctly, all appointment slots were now taken. So folks should just hear TWE or waitlist from this point forward?!

My ds is in a similar situation. Only 1 nom (from a TX senator so we have to think he's decently competitive). He already received AFROTC and 4yr AROTC during the first boards. He got an LOI back in October and has heard nothing since. Sent in an update this week and was told, "thanks and good luck!" Sometimes, I think he'll definitely get an appointment, the next I'm urging him to hit the accept button for Plan B. This wasn't as hard with ds#1!
 
So if you did not receive a waitlist update, are you either locked in with an appointment or TWE one way or another until it updates right? I’m kinda in that boat and believed my packet was competitive enough to get in or at least Prep. At this point just would rather hear something than nothing yk?

I’m not sure how we will know till that portal updates. Otherwise it’s just speculation, my DS has a principal nomination, application in since Nov 1st, has not heard a word as of yet. But like you, just ready to know either way. Good luck to you!

That sounds like an appointment should be coming for your ds. From what I understand, he would only be passed over if he is not qualified and that is probably not the case for him. I wonder if they have been trying to finalize where appointments are being charged before sending out final appointments or TWEs. My dh thinks that not being waitlisted is a good sign for my ds. My opinion changes hourly.

I also don't remember hearing about USAFA using a waitlist in the past, only USNA. That could be a change this year. If so, I like it. It tells candidates where they stand so they can focus on plan B.

It is definitely a roller coaster ride! Luckily my DS loves a good thrill ride🤣
 
I did not get Falcon Foundation Waitlist notification until April 26th last year. Then on May 5th I received the offer in my portal, no email or anything with only a few days to accept. Prior to April 26th, I had nothing change in my portal and no word from admissions. Don’t lose hope.

My DD is on the Falcon Foundation Waitlist currently, found out yesterday. After a few hours of dealing with the reality of no appointment this year, she accepted her waitlist spot and began researching schools. If she gets the offer, she will accept and do a year of prep. Can I ask your thoughts / experience with NWP??

NWP grad here. Great program, better people. I am now in USAFA C/O 28.

I was told ALL FF preps are always first on a wait list for the FF scholarship.

I feel like no waitlist is a good sign too, better chance for an appointment but is an all or nothing type thing. I haven’t heard of a waitlist for appointments yet this year, only for falcon foundation which is different. But is it possible to get waitlisted for an appointment like another college?

Yes it’s is. I’m staring at a Direct Appointment waitlist letter.

Basically same verbiage as the other letters.. everything is currently full. If something opens up we’ll get lucky 🍀 on an Appt.

It looks like we’re all in a different “Horse Stables” for all our Thoroughbreds. Just pray we’re the first one at the door waiting for it to open.
