USCGA 2021 Appointments

Congrats to all. With all of these appointments, kind of wish my DS would have submitted EA instead of RA. The wait is exhausting :)

She received the email last month that her application was being reviewed in a couple weeks. Then she didn't hear anything else until she checked bear's den today.

Wow. It's been two months since I received the two week email and I still have not heard anything. Congratulations to your daughter.
 
I noticed in the appointment letter that "We anticipate over 2,200 students will apply for an appointment this year and from this group we will tender fewer than 400 appointments for an incoming class of 295."
I assume they take 105 more applicants than their planned 295 because of medical waivers and others that decline their appointments for other reasons.
I wonder if the 295 target number is flexible?

She has accepted it and is waiting on packet

Yes, but lots of appointments in general go to athletes. The academy has 28 men's and women's teams, including large number sports like football, indoor and outdoor track, rugby and soccer. That's a lot of people participating in athletics with a student body of just under 1000. Even if you aren't a recruited athlete, you're expected to participate in some sport each year.

Appointments are going out to qualified students with a variety of interests. We just don't see that here since there is a small population that reads SAF.

Hang in there. One way or another, everything will be resolved.
