Those are great scores. All through out this process it make no sense at times. Those with weaker grades get appointments.
It should be apparent that if grades were the sole determining factor, the task facing Admissions would be straightforward: organize all of the candidates in descending order by grades and test scores and then select the top 300-400. I hope it is also apparent that would be an absurd way to select the class. Unless you are sitting in an Admissions officer's place, looking at the complete application package and understand the needs of the Academy and the Coast Guard, it's not possible to assume who the stronger candidate is.
