USCGA Class of 2025 Appointment Thread

My DD has visited twice and I’m so glad we were able to do so. She loves the campus, small class sizes, and the athletic facilities. We still have have a ways to go (she’s a sophomore in HS) but being on that campus definitely fuels the fire toward achieving that goal.
While in Cape Cod we visited the CG Museum and in our way home checked out the academy from the road. DS has been working towards this since the 1st day of 6th grade. It was surreal to see the place where he could be spending 4 years at. All this work and we’re down to the wire now. Just praying he gets in.
I hope your daughter is able to teach her dream as well.

I find it interesting that the admissions department has been so outwardly silent up to this point. It is no secret that they are certainly working very hard behind closed doors to appoint the Class of 2025 though. I imagine this is partially because of COVID-19 and the fact that they needed to work from home, but hopefully they will shed some light on what is happening on the virtual admissions brief tomorrow.

Can you share information on the virtual admissions brief tomorrow? Is that something that every one can view?

I believe so. The invitation link I found was on their website at the bottom of this page: https://www.uscga.edu/visit/

I registered and received a confirmation email on Sunday. The event will be held tomorrow at 5:00 PM EST
Thanks! If I don't make...maybe you can share what's discussed. Many thanks for helping the cadet last Friday... She was so appreciative!

Curious as to what USCGA Admissions has been “outwardly silent” means? Did you expect that they would be saying more in public or to applicants privately? What information were you expecting to receive?

Not really sure what your expectations are as most AOs communicate info directly to applicants, either unsolicited or when asked by the applicant.

I was referring to the fact that appointments haven't begun to roll out for RA yet. Apologies for not making that clear.

If past events are to go by the Admissions Brief is geared towards those people who are thinking of applying this year not those that have already applied.

I believe that appears to be a regular link for people interested in applying, I do not think they will shed light on any updates to the applications of the class of 2025...did you hear otherwise?

Oh, I wasn't aware, I just figured it was a general admissions brief. I was just kind of guessing that they might at some point mention something about this year's admissions process.

My guess is that, if you’re lucky, they might briefly mention whether they are ahead or behind this year (I assume they are on track or behind) or maybe when they plan to let candidates know (probably wouldn’t say more than “by April 1”) but 99 pct of it will likely be geared to class of 2026.

No harm tuning in but (as someone who insisted her family watch every West Point Facebook live there was, until my son insisted it was ridiculous to keep watching the same admissions brief that at this point he himself could present from memory lol) I would set your expectations for new info low.

I hope this helps clear up some debate.
Unfortunately I don’t think it does. It was the opinion of one poster that EA appointments and early RA appointments were mainly recruited athletes and children of academy alumni.

I disagreed with that statement. My understanding was the order of appointment is really based on the quality or uniqueness of the candidate.

I have, until recently, been an observer on this site- DS is a junior, applied to AIM; we've attended 2 Academy Day opportunities held by our Senators and Reps so we are starting to get the grasp of all of this. DS's grandparents are no help because they do not remember all of the ins and outs of my sister's WP admission. Sorry for the lengthy lead in- given the class make up and states represented- do you know if the states that do not have representation is due to no applicants or no qualified applicants (my feeling is the latter); and if the class is geographically represented, do the students who go to prep school "count" toward the home address demographic or where the prep school is located? Asking more out of curiosity, not concern.
