Unfortunately I don’t think it does. It was the opinion of one poster that EA appointments and early RA appointments were mainly recruited athletes and children of academy alumni.

I disagreed with that statement. My understanding was the order of appointment is really based on the quality or uniqueness of the candidate.

@sabman in support of what you are saying, my DD received her appointment EA in December and was not a recruited athlete (she actually received her first varsity letter while her application was under consideration) and we have no relatives that have been part of the Coast Guard. She might be a one off, but I doubt it.

I would second this. My DD received her appointment EA in December. She is not a recruited athlete (hopes to play soccer though) and we have no relatives that have been part of the Coast Guard or any other military branch.

Congratulations! Your AO will only call if you are really truly accepted, so feel free to add your name to the list. It does sometimes take awhile to show up in the Bears Den. Once it's there, I believe you have to click something for them to send you official appointment in the mail (not sure if I remember correctly, it's been awhile).

Congratulations!! Did you receive the “your application will be before the board in 2 weeks” email? I am curious because I received one for EA, but was deferred to RA and I haven’t heard back yet.
