USCGA Class of 2025 Appointment Thread

I assume it will be an update in the same way we received the first one. I haven’t seen anyone who was deferred receive a decision yet though. Was your son requested for an interview?
My DS was deferred and received call last week from his coach that he was being offered CGAS. Coach told him that he would get an email but he went on Bears Den over the weekend and the only update was to his old decision letter and there was a new date with his appointment offer. I would keep looking in the application where the original deferred letter is and that is where the new decision will be posted. Best of luck, I completely understand the anxiousness as our journey still isn't completely over, now DS is waiting on medical waiver. So from EA, to RA and now waiver. Has been quite the ride!!!

My DS was deferred. He is not a recruited athlete. He has not heard anything yet. His deferral letter still shows in his portal. Anxiously awaiting with everyone else...
same here - except for the recruited athlete part

DS is recruited athlete. No word yet. Couldn't apply EA due to no SAT/ACT score (out of his control, our state has been shut down for a year). The coach says he's heard nothing at all. Could be true, or just not wanting to give bad news. We are just ready to rip the bandaid off. Wondering if applicants learn favorable outcomes without a phone call? Seems like calls are the thing.

Hang in there, but finalize back up plan just in case. My DS was a recruited athlete and did not hear anything until just before Memorial Day when he received his CGAS offer last year. Coast Guard does not reserve spots for sports teams like West Point, AFA and Naval Academy.

How did you mitigate that? Did you make other schools wait until you had final word from CGA before committing to them? Did you have other non-military offers that waited patiently? He would definitely welcome a Prep offer.

Same situation for my DS. Recruited athlete deferred from EA to RA. Portal still shows letter deferring. Also rec'd medical DQ and would need waiver. Not knowing whether that's likely under the timeline even if appointed, he has a definitive plan B ready .

I was deferred from EA, but granted a medical waiver and am still waiting to hear back. I was very transparent with other coaches about CGA - I recently committed to another school and put my deposit down. If I do get into CGA or CGAS I do plan on unenrolling from the civilian school with the understanding that I will lose my deposit money. I found that as long as I made civilian schools//coaches aware of my situation most were very understanding!

DS let coaches know that he applied to Coast Guard Academy, but he signed a Letter of Intent and planned to attend civilian university if he did not receive an offer of admission from CGA. When he received and accepted CGAS offer his civilian college coach released him from his Letter of Intent.

My DS also made his current coaches and ROTC aware of his intent for CGA. They are very supportive.

Is there no way to accept (or at least indicate an intent to accept) an appointment online? It seems the only option is to sign and mail in paperwork? Can anyone please confirm?

Once you are given a full appointment, then you receive a link to an online form in your acceptance letter. This form will signal to USCGA that you have a least a little interest in attending, and they will mail you the official paperwork. Once you sign and mail in the paperwork, you are officially committed.

Hello, are there any news about international applicants?
(I realize that chance of international applicant responding to me here is low :()
