USMA Class of 2017 Acceptance Thread

First Post!

BFE arrived for DS today. Congressional TX-31. No phone calls or emails prior. God has directed this journey from the beginning: Soli Deo Gloria.

I had the pleasure of picking up the mail today (took a picture of the massive envelope in the mailbox)!

We were at USMA last week for his overnight visit. Met with an Admissions Officer Friday afternoon. Asked what the protocol was for contacting RC about status if he hadn't heard anything by April. Officer looked up my son's file and stated he'd be hearing something in a couple weeks -- just couldn't say what. We weren't sure how to interpret her comment - now we know.

Stopped by the West Point Museum on the way to airport Saturday & picked up their last copy of "The Mom's Guide to Surviving West Point" - just in case. Presented it to my wife after DS opened his BFE!

Congrats to those who've received good news and best of luck to all those still waiting. We've been touched by everyone's posts.

She has been working on this for a long time. One mission ends and another begins. Congratulations to all appointees for the Class of 2017.
 
COngratulations to all who have received a BFE in the past few days! Well earned! We are still waiting! Our DS is 3Q with a comp congressional NOM (not sure where he ranked for the nomination) and his overall application looks very strong but you never know. To all who are waiting like us - be patient and pray for the best! Question - can anyone shed some light as to when the next wave will be coming? I have heard in a few weeks and I have also heard in the April time frame (early or late April?). I am very proud how my son has handled the pressure to date and he has a very solid back up plan but the wait is killing me! :-) Again - congrats to all who have received BFEs to date! And all who have made it this far should be very - very proud!
 
Accepted!

Got my acceptance letter yesterday! OH-02 or OH-61 not sure whose nomination got me in (not like it matters now does it? :wink:) but I reside in OH-02. Good luck to everyone else out there waiting on letters!!

For us who have received our BFEs, how do we accept the offer of admission? Do we have to wait for our portals to be updated first or should we call the Academy?

My DS spoke to a candidate last night who he met during his overnight at WP in November. That candidate has a Presidential Nom and did not receive a BFE during the first wave of offers. The candidate was told by his RC that he will be receiving an offer in the 2nd wave and to expect it next week.
 
Portal Update?

Does anyone know when we can expect the candidate portal to update with admissions offers? I'm stuck in a snowstorm in rural Missouri, so I don't exactly have much faith is the Postal Service to get a BFE to me if I receive an offer.

Do you (or anyone else) know if when we accept in the portal, the "more information," paperwork, etc. is available to do online or if it gets mailed? And if it gets mailed, is it right after you accept or after a couple weeks/month? I just ask (not because I am soo terribly impatient :shake:) because I am out of the country right now, and I am trying to figure out how I will complete these forms. Thanks!

Portal Update

Hoping DS receives a BFE in the next wave. To all who already received a BFE, CONGRATULATIONS!!! Well deserved for all the hard work you put in to getting yourself to this point. So proud of the young men and women who give of themselves to serve The United States of America. For all the rest still waiting, HANG IN THERE, don't give up hope. Make sure you follow thru on plan B.

Download the Instructions For Applicants Offered Admissions - USMA Class of 2017 for additional instructions concerning Reception Day (R-Day).

For those who received an appointment, has the portal also been updated in the Official Correspondence window to be able to accept/deny the appointment (as per the the new message instructions)? Also, the new message indicates downloading the Instructions For Applicants Offered Admissions. Has this been made available via candidate's portals who have a known received appointment? - Thanks.

Check your portal! My DS's just changed to Accept!
 
Portal Change

DS checked his portal and noticed the update. In hoping his BFE is in route, and maybe the portal would reflect a correspondence. Nothing is noted, we are assuming not to expect a BFE this wave.
