Pretty cool event at Kings Point this week. Two USMMA alumni landed their osprey on campus and visited with the regiment (including the class of '23 little sister of one of them). I have a feeling we may see a spike in requests for USMC pilot slots from upcoming graduating classes.

Just saw this post, wondering if you could answer a question or two about going USMC out of USMMA? My DS has been offered an appointment and is undecided. He ultimately wants to be a Marine (not a pilot). Basically want to know how likely it is assuming he performs well at the Academy. Thanks.

The situation can change year to year, but I have not heard of anyone in recent history who wanted to go USMC and did not have that opportunity. About 30% of each class goes active duty each year (rough figure) and of that, there are probably 5-10 who commission USMC.

Just asked my DD (class of '21) who is at sea right now. She says there are 15 in her class who are going USMC. They have the Leatherneck program at USMMA now (where they spend four weeks at Quantico before First Class year doing all things Marine Corps) so numbers are increasing.
