Hello all! I am a USNA 2023 hopeful and a NROTC hopeful, so I have a couple questions! I'm just going to list them out for convenience and if you all could help me out that would be amazing!

1.) (USNA) I was curious, I am almost done with my application as I have only the medical exam, BGO interview, and transcripts left and those are all scheduled for this coming week. So, my question is, if I submit my current application after my those things are done, can I still submit new CFA and ACT scores, or is what I have on there right now the final ones that will be considered.

2.) (NROTC) For this I have to declare a major and I am conflicted between two, so I was curious as to how much they take your major that you chose into consideration.

3.) Could anyone give me some encouragement about my ACT scores that I submitted to USNA lol, my English was a 29, and my math was a 26. Yes, I know that is not fantastic, but I did retake it and I am hoping for some improved scores but as of right now I am really discouraged about them! I was hoping my GPA would make up for it as I have a 4.277 and I have only gotten 2 B's my entire high school career.

THANKS!

Kgrant19: Well done for thinking ahead. Now, take a breath and ask yourself: Have I read every single tab, link and pulldown in the USNA and NROTC website? Because all your questions are answered there. Be proactive and use those primary sources first. Also, use this forum’s search function; you’ll again find the answers you seek.

Question 1: see above.

Question 2: see above.

Question 3: see above. Specifically, look for USNA’s Class of 2022 profile. You’ll see how your ACT score — and other credentials — meaure up. Best wishes.

By the way, when interviewing with the BGO and nominating panels, and they ask if you have any questions, do not ask anything that you could have figured out with a couple clicks of your mouse/touchpad. It will not reflect well on you.

Okay thank you so much! I think I am just stressing out a little bit haha because so much is hitting me all at once that I have been overlooking the things on the website. I really appreciate all of your advice! This is a very stressful process, but it will be worth it in the end!

Understood. It is indeed a very stressful process — hence, take a breath. Should you receive appointment to USNA, the stress you face during Plebe Summer will make this stress seem like child’s play.
