USNA 2025 Waiting and....Waiting

Congrats!!

I am envious of those that although you feel like you've been waiting FOREVER really haven't. My DD finished her app in Sept, got a nom in Nov, medically cleared early Dec. I know she's not the only one with this time line but it makes me laugh when I read that some people are frustrated that they turned in their paperwork Jan/Feb.... Don't be mad at me for saying it. I'm just a bitter old lady. 😂 😂 😂 I wonder if her folder fell behind a bookcase and it'll be discovered 10 years from now when they move offices...

I'm super excited for those getting LOAs and appointments (REALLY!). The 15th with a decision either way can't come soon enough. Although in 2020/2021 fashion, I wouldn't be surprised if that day comes and goes with no update.

BTW - we just watched "Annapolis" last night. Has anyone else seen it? I liked the story but some things made me laugh. Hey - I never knew there was a shipyard right across the river!
Same here. Definitely feeling your pain, lol.

Chances are not looking too good for my DS. DS just found out from the Congressional office that nominated him that another candidate has been offered an appointment from his slate. I thought my DS had a very strong application and would be very competitive in here in Eastern NC. Oh well.... He can begin to focus even more on narrowing down his plan B choices! Congratulations to all those offered appointments or LOAs off this thread and best of luck to everyone still waiting!!! Things will work out as they are meant to be!

My Admissions contacts (friends in low places) tell me that snail mail notification is being sent today but there is a shortage of "forever" stamps in Annapolis.

April Fools!! Good luck to those still waiting.
This reminded me of my friend's granddaughter who instead of telling grandma that she was staying in CA because she married her bf, told grandma that the US Navy "ran out of money" so her bf was stuck on a ship. 😆

Do not count it out just yet. Our HS had 4 kids get an appointment to USNA in 2019. I know that 2 of them more than 1 nominating source, not sure about the other 2.

So you can only get one appointment per District? What if you only have one nomination?

Thank you for the information!
Appointing from, and charging to, are different animals. There are strict guidelines as to how many can be charged to a nominating source. An appointment may come from several sources (ie: somone may be on 3 slate, and all three MOC’s can rightly claim that candidate xx from their slate was appointed). However, candidate xxx will only be CHARGED to one charging authority. That’s why sometimes you will see more than 1 from a slate appointed....and also why, just because you see someone HAS been appointed from a slate, doesn’t mean you won’t. Bc one doesn’t know where they were charged.

The long wait is finally over for our family! DS received his appointment early in the morning today! :jump1:

Best of luck to everyone who is still waiting! I know I was looking for this information while waiting, so here it is - his application was done in November and medical was cleared in January. The appointment came through his email at 5 am and portal was updated too. No call from his MOC, but we suspected that they would not call.
Congratulations, and thank you for the info! This may have been answered before but I can't find it... On the email your DS received, did the email tell you that you had been offered an appointment, or did it just say "an update has been posted in the portal" like all the civilian schools do, prompting an anxiety fueled 30 seconds while you try to get logged on? 😂

We feel a little that way right now too. Several GA appointees were nominated on the same slate DS was nominated for! They have gotten yes’s and accepted and we have not heard anything yet. DS appears Q3 and has a nomination, but we have to trust the process. Although no TWE yet, it seems like maybe the odds are not in his favor. He brought everything he had to the table, so that is all he can do. Today one more person on our slate was nominated, so hopes are a little in the dumps. That said, I am thrilled for those who get the opportunity of fulfilling their dreams. My son is gathering his strength to try again next year to gain appointment as it is his dream, and he is starting to really try to pump himself up about Plan B. It ain’t a bad choice either! I guess it ain’t over until it is over 😂😂😂

I'm also curious to know that as well, if USNA sends the "check your email" at a certain time of day or is it random?
My DS received a call from our Congresswoman on a Monday and his portal was updated the following Friday after 5:00 (CST). I had given up checking, thinking it would be another weekend of waiting for official written news, but my husband checked one last time and the portal has updated. After the portal update, an email with instructions for next steps was in his inbox time stamped 5:45 (CST). Still waiting on the PTR info to arrive by mail and hear that could be several weeks after the portal update. I hope this helps and best of luck to everyone!

It should come at the start of may! Congratulations!

How did you find that out, did you contact the Congressional office and they told you?

DS did. He sent an email to the Congressional assistant that helps with the nominations (same one he had to turn all his stuff into). She emailed back that there had only been one of their USNA nominations that had been offered an appointment. She did add that she was not sure if he/she had accepted the appointment or not.
