USNA 2025 Waiting and....Waiting

I am just used to deadlines being met and held to. The candidates had to meet deadlines, correct?
What deadline are you speaking of ? It's not April 15 yet ..... and to repeat -- USNA says "Most" will be notified by April 15. (Here's a hint ; many have been accepted or been notified, this Forum is not necessarily representative of overall status).

It would be very easy for USNA Admissions to meet the "deadline" by hitting the "decline all" button on April 15. That might leave a few seats unfilled. Instead, I know Admissions is working hard to build the best class possible and give everyone that they can the opportunity to attend.

I get it -- it's tough to wait, particularly while you see others getting an Appointment. I've been watching this drama unfold for almost 20 years now, and the truth is ...we may be a few weeks later than the past (historically, most appointments were late March and early April), from my perspective the status of appointments is pretty typical. The only difference I am really seeing is that Admissions didn't send out TWE's and close out the accounts of those that didn't complete their application. (That said, they may have sent the TWE and it just doesn't reflect in the BGO portal).

Let's all remember that we've made it this far in the process and survived to tell the tale. Remember the enthusiasm and excitement we all had when first starting our applications, completing our CFA's, nailing our standardized tests, receiving nominations, etc.. How would our past selves feel to see us giving up hope now, in the final stretch of the race?

Prayers go out to everybody still waiting, you guys are awesome!

💯! Asked DS what he wanted to do & his response was wait - “I didn’t work that hard during the application process to walk away.” Honestly, as parents, we favor his Plan B option (NROTC @ UIUC - even as a Programmer, if needed) especially as we get more invested into it during this waiting 😂 but we will follow his lead on this one.... We made it this far, we’ll wait some more. We can do this! These kiddos will end up where they are meant to be. And, my guess is all Plan Bs are pretty awesome, but it might be hard to see that right now - DS gets amazing feedback when people ask him what he’s doing & he mentions UIUC for Engineering.....

Not always a waste....many families still consider putting a deposit down at a Plan B school to protect against the possibility of injury before I-Day. Lots of kids with a last minute broken bone at the Send Off volleyball game or the family beach vacation. These kind of accidents postpone several incoming Plebes To Be every year.
I agree with this. While there is a very minimal chance of injury to your Plebe To Be, as a BGO I had one incoming Plebe tear an ACL while playing a varsity sport in May of senior year. She could not be mobile on I-day and participate in Plebe Summer activities and was removed from the incoming class. She had declined her backup school offers, but was able to get into a state rolling admissions university she did not originally intend to go to. She subsequently reapplied next year and entered that incoming class. If you choose to put a deposit down somewhere else and hold past May 1, I would let the university know why you are doing it. They will be prompting the incoming freshman anyway for housing, scheduling classes, etc. all things you might not want to put money or effort into. You may or may not get the deposit back. They are not obligated to give it back. But there are very likely some colleges that you could apply to in June if an emergency occurred without putting a deposit somewhere else. Or a school that accepted you might take you back. Things to consider before spending money.

I was just smiling at your first post, and recalling that your attitude will be called upon during plebe summer, too, when you wonder WHAT HAVE I GOTTEN MYSELF INTO 🤪 and then BOOM 💥 your appointment post.

Sincere congrats. Your advice WILL bode well come July!!

Someone calculated it out (on a different thread for USNA) last week, there are around 460-480 appointments that still need to go out.

Does anyone have a link for this? Or the name of the thread? Still waiting for any news and it would be bring me peace to see that.
