USNA 2025 Waiting and....Waiting

Salutes to all the applicants here for making it to the Olympic Trials but not quite to the traveling team. So much great talent. At this point, there is just not enough room in the class. These applicants have all the skills, traits and abilities to succeed in ROTC, other commissioning programs, other paths, or even gear up for re-application.

Some long-term thoughts:

OCS, Navy. Highly competitive, very much dependent on the needs of the Navy. OCS serves as the adjustment valve, taking as many candidates as they need to combine with other commissioning sources to meet goal for the yearly accession. They can cherry-pick exactly who they want. I suspect STEM/IT/cyber majors are preferred. Excel academically, stay fit, stay out of trouble. Junior or even sophomore year, get in touch with an officer recruiter, who will typically work out of a regional office looking after pre-comm programs. Be visible and focused. This is not a gimme program to apply for after graduation.

Nuclear Power Officer (NUPOC) and Civil Engineering Corp Officer (CEC, think SeaBees); both have generous college programs. Highly competitive.

College programmer, NROTC. Test drive it for a year, see how it feels.

Marine Corps - they have specific programs outside of USNA and NROTC Marine option. Easily researched.

If thoughts turn to medical school or other healthcare role, and there is a still a yen for service, don’t overlook the military med school at USUHS (apply directly) or the Health Professional Scholarship Program (find officer recruiter similar to OCS). Ditto JAG and Chaplains Corps.

The USNA live chat has stated that all decisions have already been emailed out in the morning! I haven’t received anything yet but it seems like we’re getting a lot of TWE today so far.

It said to email admissions officer so my DS just did. Maybe that will push his email out. Good luck to those still waiting!

Possibly they want the MOCs to notify the candidates first? But possibly not because it would be a bit late due to National Decision Day.

To everyone who received a TWE today, from someone who received one over two weeks ago and is still feeling the disappointment:

It's hard. I know. This process is so personal and demands so much mentally, physically, and emotionally. It's discouraging (to put it lightly) to get so far and to think maybe you'll be the one...

But I have full faith that everyone who is feeling the sting of a TWE will be just fine. It probably isn't what you want to hear - goodness knows that was not what I wanted to hear after I received mine- but soon enough you'll be looking forward to your next steps. Where there's a will, there's a way; in the end, all that matters is the desire to serve, not where you go to college.

You're gonna be okay. :)

Hi everyone I am a USNA applicant this year and I finally logged onto this forum to solidify my position. I was wondering if this is accurate. "The USNA live chat has stated that all decisions have already been emailed out in the morning! I haven’t received anything yet but it seems like we’re getting a lot of TWE today so far." I currently have an acceptance to USCGA and I wanted to know if my chances are over for Navy.

TWE for my DS. His twin received his TWE a few weeks ago. I'm proud that he was considered a competitive candidate until the end. Onto Plan B... which now becomes Plan A. Both DS's will be attendind WVU with an AROTC scholarship... Proud of them and how hard they worked to get to this point. Good luck to all of you remaining and those who are in the TWE boat like us... I'm sure great things will come. My only awkwardness is going to have to learn to say " Go Army, beat Navy" since I have been saying "Go Navy, Beat Army" for several years in preparation of the academy LOL. Thanks to all of you for your support, this forum was a godsend! Best wishes to all.
While your adjusting you’ll have plenty of Mountaineers games to root for! WVU is an awesome place. Congratulations and good luck to the twins

until you receive the TWE, it's not over

DS received TWE this AM as well. He had already fully committed to ND but I still wanted this for him for all the effort he put into it. He doesn’t seemed phased one bit which solidifies the fact he already made the best choice for him. It’s where he is meant to be.

Good luck to those still waiting. Go Irish and GO NAVY beat Army!
Hard to be too disappointed when your heading off to Norte Dame! Congratulations and good luck to your DS
