USNA 2026 Waiting and.… Waiting

I have a presidential and JROTC nom (plus a congressional but I think the vacancies have been filled considering I live in an area with a ton of applicants) but am waiting on a medical waiver, are they probably going to keep me waiting for a while?

Make sure and tend to your alternate plans. Have a solid backup. A nomination doesn’t equate to an appointment. It’s ‘only’ one of the required pieces to be able to compete.

I think the real question is if you are CPR, are you REALLY CPR? When you look at past years and you see candidates being CPR until April 14th and then receiving a rejection, one might make the conclusion that CPR is just a placeholder (i.e. A decision has already been made but for some reason not communicated/portal updated). I kind of doubt all those rejections are decided on the last day. On the flip side, you could say that admissions is just keeping their options open and the reason many do not receive rejections earlier is because there is still some possibility of appointment. The truth is, only people who have worked in the inner circle of admissions know. I am just guessing here.
My older son, at USMA now was CPR right up until April 15 and then received his TWE. I guess that is why my hopes are lower for #2 son as we continue on the tortuous wait. Fortunately older son's top choice was USMA. For this guy - his is USNA in a big way. He is more patient than me and because he is a football player they are also watching the football med waivers and last minute players who change their mind on their appointment. He is literally next on the list for a football chip (grades too high for prep school).

Did the portal crash? Everything in myPortal is gone.

Bill Signed: H.R. 026 | The White House

On Wednesday, March 30, 2022, the President signed into law:

H.R. 026, the “DoD Service Academies End Strength Authorization Act,” which increases total appointments available to entering classes at the United States Naval Academy, United States Military Academy and United States Air Force Academy.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki acknowledged the bill’s primary sponsor, Rep. Philo T. McGiffin, (D-East Jabip) and added, “The President fully appreciates the patience of all candidates and hopes that appointments authorized in H.R. 026 are filled promptly and judiciously.”

April Fools! I only wish the bill were true as there are deserving candidates still in the hunt. Continued best wishes to those waiting.

This has happened in years past with 4/1 and the new class of apps open. Within a day or two it is fixed.

The good news. Except for the very rare exception, everyone will know this month!

That's hilarious! I assume, due to the lack of sensitivity, that you aren't awaiting any appointment news! Excellent SA!

Philo McGiffin! I remember him! 🤣🤣🤣

Did you make any port calls to East Jabip?
Surely did.

I just spent a useless 10 minutes looking for images of that motorized Navy ship float mids drive around the sidelines at games, USS PHILO T MCGIFFIN. Couldn’t find any! Realized I hadn’t seen it in awhile. Anyone have pics?

Philo McGiffin was a very impressive alum both in terms of pranks and in terms of his career.
For the non-alums reading this, suffice it to say that his accomplishments in the prank world
are still being talked about 150 yrs afterward.

I am currently CPR, along with many other candidates. Does anybody know if there is a realistic shot of being offered an appointment this late in the game?

There is a shot as long as you do not have a TWE. Look at the last few years of appointment lists, you will see there are some appts this late in the game. But, there are also, many TWEs at this point too.
