Greetings all, I must mention a somewhat noteworthy observation of mine. I have come in contact with many USNA alumni, and also current Midshipmen at USNA. I always ask them about their credentials during the time they had applied to USNA, and excluding those who had attended NAPS or were from the foundation, it seems the Mids and alumni I spoken to who got accepted their first try got in for different reasons. I say this because they had no uniformity in the types of things they had done, the grades they had achieved, or the test scores they earned.

Does the admissions board really look at each application as a special case? Are they truly meticulous with different candidates and their achievements or conditions?

Thank you all

during summer seminar all the current mids also got in with different scores grades backgrounds etc as you mentioned. My squad leader said there was no "cookie-cutter" midshipman.

That's why everyone on this forum says to "just be the best you can be and apply" no one can give you a positive answer that you will be admitted. We can help you create an awesome package but sometimes even that isn't enough. My last advice before leaving is to do what you choose to do because you love it! Do not do it to look good for admissions :). And good luck (especially 2014)! :) I-day minus 1 iofficially starts in 30 minutes!!!! :)
And again thank you all for everything! This forum is amazing so please use it for all it's worth!

Best of luck to you. I take it you are a NAPSter or prior if you are "officially" starting in 30min. I'll never forget the sounds of hearing the first arriving classmates of mine into the halls on I-day (as I was an I-Day minus 1 too, coming from NAPS). It's a surreal moment - as a prior/napster the detailers expect you to lead from the start, so make sure you are there to help those first arriving to your platoon/company area. Help them get their rooms squared away.

Best of luck to you and the Class of 2013!

No, sorry I just meant that we officially have 1 more day until I-day :)- sorry about that; it's what we have all been calling it :)...
But thank you very much! :)

Awww...okay I see. enjoy your last day as a civilian than! Did you make it to the Yard today or are you going to do that tomorrow? If so, you might catch a glimpse of some of your classmates going thru their I-Day (as the NAPSters/Priors do their "I-Day" starts tomorrow). Obviously your class will be sworn in together, but for what ever reason they are required to report on I-Day minus 1 and get all their gear issued then.

If you hit up the Yard tomorrow take your last few hours of being able to "freely" looking around and enjoy the most beautiful campus of all the service academies b/c starting the minute you walk into Alumni Hall your eyes will be "in the boat" from the remainder of the summer.

Thank you! No, I am in CT- dropped my twin brother off at the USCGA today :) it was awesome to see! :) We have a very early plane flight (going to bed soon :)...) and then we will be on the yard :) I have been there a couple of times and I agree completely with you! It's AMAZING! :)
