What are the advantages to going to a service academy like USNA vs. going to a regular college for four years and then entering the military? Does anyone have previous experience with attending a regular college for a couple years, and then going to USNA? Would it be worth the extra 2 years of school?
 
It is a personal decision in regards to the 2 years of school. If you feel like you'd be better prepared emotionally, physically and academically, it would be a good choice. However, SA education is top notch and you would still have to go for four years.
 
I worked with a candidate who entered USNA with three full years of college. That candidate has done extraordinarily well at USNA. But, obviously, it's a personal decision that only you can make.
