USNA Class of 2026 Appointee Ready Room

So it's nothing but kissing and fun until you get to Gate 1?

"busses" are multiple kisses, whereas "buses" are multiple vehicles for transporting people.[/spolier]
I loved this typo - busses vs buses! I do think busses should stop somewhere, and Gate 1 seems about right.

When is the I-day raise your hand and repeat after me ceremony? I’ll probably watch it online.

I don’t bother our girl … she’s doing something to help out I think.

Can someone explain the DBIDS process briefly? Specifically, if we hand carry the paperwork on Wed morning to the office will we get a temporary card then? (yes we found out Saturday that we should have mailed in the paperwork weeks ago) We are trying to figure out the logistics of making a meeting at Hubbard Hall (Right inside gate 8) on Wed evening if we can't drive on there. If you do not get a temp card right then, is the next best option to park outside Gate 1 and walking across campus?

DS got a new alpha number. Not sure if others are seeing the same thing. Just wanted to let people know to keep an eye out.

We didn't mail it either. I was wondering about the process ...... guess my wife and I will just have to drive down on another day to take care of it. Or maybe just me, as I don't see her going on the Yard much without me.

DBIDS (temporary paper or 3-year card) are not needed to gain access on I-day for drop off purposes because no-one will have those. Also the Yard is open (unles COVID locks it up) to all public with proper ID. Typically you can pick up your "temporary paper" DBIDS at Gate 1 during I-Day, if you have filled out paperwork. Not sure if you can process that day due.

You can then convert your paper dbids to a 3-year access card at a later date. Again typically you are not able to do this until well after PS and not during PPW. We did ours during an October visit. The benefit to the card is you can use the turnstiles at Gate 1 or Gate 3 to gain access (unless shut down during certain times like Commissioning week).

I picked up a carload of stuff and a Plebe and drove to his Mom stranded at the temporary parking at Gate 1 just last month, because she "didn't usually drive on to The Yard because her husband had military ID and never thought she would go there without him", so there may be a reason for your wife to get a DBIDS card, after all. ;)

That was one happy Plebe, who was initially facing multiple trips from the Mother B loading dock to Gate 1, schlepping all his stuff.
He even received a cold Gatorade from the cooler. :)

LT thanks for the reply. We need to get in Gate 8 (easiest) to get to the boat house for a meet and greet. Provided that we cannot get a temp DBIDS the day before I-Day to go to the boat house (driving through gate 8) is the best option to find parking outside of gate 1 and walk across the yard to the boat house or is there parking outside of gate 8 somewhere that we can walk through gate 8? It seems clear that there is no driving without a DBIDS.

There isn't any convenient parking (that I know of) outside of Gate 8. You could park at the football stadium and catch a bus from the stadium to Alumni Hall. I seriously doubt that the driver would drop you just inside of Gate 8 near the boathouse (but you could ask, I suppose). If you have to go to Alumni Hall, you just walk back past the parade field and over the bridge to the boat house.

During I-Day the buses run every ten minutes back and forth from Alumni Hall to the Stadium.

THANKS!

If you enlarge the overhead map above, there is a postage-stamp sized lot (tiny gray-white box) across the street from the turn-off to Gate 8. There are usually spaces there - but all bets are off on or around Induction Day. Park there, cross street, walk on sidewalk to Gate 8, keep walking, boathouse comes up after baseball fields on your right.

Go over the bridge, Worden parade field is on your right, Alumni Hall on your left.

You may want to recon that lot. I don’t know what signage may be posted there. I thin it is overflow parking for residents of the military housing on the hill behind it.

Thank you very much! We will do that as soon as we get there.

Thanks again.

I'd never noticed it either but had remembered the lot in front of the swimming pool
I was thinking I should mention the pool lot, so thank you for jumping in.
