USNA Class of 2027 Waiting and Speculating

Just noticed a newspaper article that 1 of the 5 our MOC nominated has been offered an appointment to USNA and USAFA. Seems like a very qualified young person from my perspective. My DS is still CPR but in my opinion his odds are heading in the wrong direction. My DS didn’t seem disappointed at all and is excited about his plan B, a 4 year AROTC Scholarship at The Citadel. Hotel reservations and deposit already done, time to get airfare.

I'm going a little stir crazy and today my SAF friends are fully confirming I'm not alone🤣
For logistics, excitement, peace of mind, I wish we all had answers but I'm trying to stick with the 'you're in it 'til your not' excitement and pray for the best outcome for DD and all of the candidates awaiting word from admissions.
15 days to 4/15
90 days to I-Day
We got this.

Lol. I have more scenarios if you like.

Earlier someone said to quit speculating and do things in my control. I explained I was married with five children. An extremely happy wife, 1 boy and 4 girls. As you can all probably imagine I am in complete control of all things things under my roof….when nobody is home.

This place is all I’ve got. Nobody in my family has even applied to the academies.

I appreciate everyone’s good humor and sarcasm. I was raised irish catholic. Growing up we made certain nobody in the house had a sense of good about themselves. I think I have found my new home.

What if they nominate 1 person and they’re not deemed qualified? Then USNA can charge someone else to them right?

And what if that MOC is like, no way! If you don’t like my one nominee then leave my slot open this year and I’ll get you two good people next year.

Since we are all spending the last day of March dealing with 0.00001% scenarios I figured why not pile on and go all in. 😬
I don't know anything from anything but I've heard (or got the feeling anyways) that the MOC is kind of out of the picture when selections are made. They basically submit 10 names and bow out. Again, that's the feeling I got when at the CVW parents seminar with admission consoler Panel (the folks your DS/DD interact with when reaching out about their apps).

It seems there is quite a lot of DODMERB waiver activity in the allergy arena today. Some getting denials and turn downs and a few getting waivers and LOAs. I saw a few asthmas with the same. I think the waiver team must have been hard at work this week! My DS thinks the colorblind kids will be the very last as they are restricted and USNA only selects a few. He knew it was going to be a tough road to get in, but it didn’t stop him. After Summer Seminar he was completely sold and said…I won’t know unless I try! I say happy Friday and cheers to you all! I’m off to watch DS play lax in the freezing cold 👀.

Not sure if the timing of colorblind waivers are done at end.

My son’s was initiated as soon as he was dq’d and waiver came early February.

It might seem later because the Superintendent has to rubber stamp it - which took a few weeks.

Can I ask where you saw all of that? We are waiting for a waiver too because our DS had sinus surgery freshman year.

Read everything else that posters have taken the time to explain, to this point…..

In this thread.

OK, I'll step up here. As gets said here a lot, you are overthinking/overanalyzing.

If nobody from an MOC's slate gets in, then that "slot will go unfilled and NO, that does not mean that they'll necessarily have TWO
slots the next cycle as they'll work to keep at least one "slot" for every year into the future and if they use "this year's slot" next year then when "2030" applications go in, that MOC will have zero slots available.
.
An MOC slot not getting used does not mean that there will be one fewer person in the class. The way that the classes at all of the DOD
academies are filled is that AFTER all of the MOC and other slots are filled, the individual academies are allowed to bring in additional
NOMINATED candidates to bring the class up to its authorized strength.

Oh gosh .. no I was being sarcastic and just joking around. Things were getting very… specific… so I was being silly. But your post was still informative and I thank you for taking that time.☺️

Can I ask what district?

I stepped away from this thread for my own sanity. Clearly I should have just stuck around and “gone a little crazy” with everyone else still sitting at CPR. 😂
