USNA Class of 2027 Waiting and Speculating

Did you get a pdf uploaded to your portal with FAQs when you got your WL offer? I got USNA WL and it came with a pdf that said waitlist decisions typically come out starting around the second week of May all the way until mid June. Not sure if that's the case for NAPS.
I did not see the PDF. If anyone did and was able to download it, sharing it here would be great.

The letter that comes with NAPS-Waitlist stated that anyone who is waitlisted for prep school can hear as early as the second week of May and as late as mid July. I am glad that you are happy with the NAPS Waitlist! I was very confused and hurt when I found out today. I didn’t even know it was an option and it seemed very random. I wasn’t expecting it at all! But I am still feeling USNA hopeful. Feel free to update the list and best of luck to you!
Thank you. I updated the list on the NAPS waitlist forum.

Just some hard stops to remember: 1) NAPS requires you to enlist in the Naval Reserve. Deadline is June 30th. 2) All forms, documents must be received by NAPS by July 10th. 3) Priors report on July 24th and Directs report on July 25th. Emails will be sent out spreading the arrival times in 30 minute intervals. Also, if your family is dropping you off you must fill out a form for everyone over 18 (excluding you - you papers will get you in) and send it in NLT 3 weeks prior to drop off. Each person must have a separate form with their driver's license info. To enlist you must bring your original HS diploma, SSN card, original Birth Certificate, and driver's license/passport. You will bring the originals of said documents with you to NAPS excluding the diploma. Finally, once you accept your NAPS appointment, you will receive a number of pdf documents on your CIS portal to fill out and upload. One of them is a Police Record Check. This requires you to physically go to your local law enforcement agency and pay for a background check.

The student information guide is very helpful:

Hello, everyone! I just wanted to just write part of my journey. My journey started when I got the chance to attend summer seminar in 2020, but that year was online because of COVID. Even though it was online, I had the best experience. After that I started my application for USNA and I had a big thing against me and it was an SAT score of 1000, ACT 20, also my mile run in the CFA was not stellar (I think it was 8:20). However, I still had other good things, like playing volleyball varsity for 4 years and being the captain for 3 years in a row. I also, was part of my school's marching band, part of the sea cadets and getting multiple awards, earning servsafe certificate, going to two medicine programs because my teachers recommended me and many other things. In that year cycle, I was able to get a nomination from my congressman and everything was good to go except for my DODMERB because USNA never let me do it, since that year they did it different because of COVID; obviously this ended up being a TWE.

Now, I am currently a sophomore in college and I always had the burning desire to reapply but did not know if I should, since I was not sure if I was competitive. However, I decided to submit a preliminary application in June of 2022 and got my candidate number and everything, but was not sure still if I should reapply. Then in July 2022 I received an email to apply for the inspire program. Even though it seemeda great program I was not sure if I should apply, since I did not know if I was going to apply to USNA again. I remember, they gave 6 days to submit the form for the Inspire program and I decided to complete the form on the due date, one hour before it was due. I wrote the essay with all the things I was holding in my heart for those two years; I thought I again I had no chance of getting into the program, but I did! Going to USNA and hearing the stories from the midshipmen gave me the strength to keep pushing for my dreams. I was not prepare at all to reapply to USNA. But as soon as I got back home I started working on it. The deadlines for a nomination from my senators passed and I was only able to submit the application for my congressman nomination. I never was sure if I was going to apply again, therefore I never retook my SAT of 1000 and for my congressman application I went with that SAT. I knew I had a little disadvantage in that area, but when giving interviews I always give the best interview I could by being myself and letting them know that I had a lot to offer and that my SAT did not define me. I remember how they let me know that they would never forget my interview and to keep fighting. I was able to secure a nomination from my congressman. I retook my SAT twice since there were no more dates available, and I was able to get 1080, which it was not great at all still, and I got the same score for my ACT of 20. I was feeling very discourage since I knew this is not competitive at all. But, I still submitted them to USNA. After waiting all these months for a response, yesterday I was put on the Wait list for USNA. It is not the best outcome but is not bad either. I am happy that I kept pushing even when everything seemed against me and glad USNA was able to see something in me.

For future applicants, never give up even when something is not stellar in your application, instead use it as your strength and let everyone know that you will keep trying even when odds seem against you, that is how you become a true leader. Furthermore, always be yourself when doing interviews and be honest, the people that interviews you want to get to know who you are and what you have to offer. Stats are an important part but it does not define yourself. Keep fighting for your dreams!
Love hearing about your grit!! THANKS for sharing your story.

Our DD received and accepted her NAPS nomination. We feel blessed for her opportunity. Wishing all of you and your DD & DS as they grind out the refresh button as we did. God Bless and Go Navy!
To not confuse new readers who are starting the hunt for 2028 - she was offered an appointment to NAPS? A nomination is not needed.

My DS has a LOA and his portal shows everything complete except "Medical Examination." He has completed his medical evaluation and has a DQ from DoDMERB. His DoDMERB portal shows that he is under waiver review, but USNA hasn't requested any AMI or otherwise reached out. We are concerned that maybe there is a glitch and USNA thinks he hasn't completed his medical evaluation, so they aren't moving forward with a waiver. Is there any way to confirm that the X on "Medical Examination" does not mean that USNA is waiting for something from our end?

Yes. He can confirm with his admissions rep.

You have to actually log into dodmerb to see that waivers were requested. It usually happens right away. My son got ami on rotc once he accepted. He sent the Data right away as we were waiting for the request. Still waiting to see if waiver granted. They said up to 10 days and we're close or just over that. I think it almost needs some kind of trigger to get rolling as he was sitting like that since December until he accepted rotc.

4/14/2023 AM Turn Down

For posterity.
January 4, 2022 submitted NASS app.
Attended NASS
Fall 2023 CVW invited/attended
Recruited athlete: encouraging feedback but no LOA
8/27/2022 CPR, medically/physically qualified
2022 Nomination
Academic stats exceed those listed for class of 2025 (2026 stats have never been shared by admissions)

I‘ve always been fully in the camp that what happens will happen for a reason, and I’ve supported her pursuing her dream. But, when I found out a kid on her slate received an appointment despite having taken standardized testing with accommodations (not enough time to retake) and citing he’d be waivered for ADHD, I was frustrated. As they say, all is fair in love and war, I suppose. I assumed the process would at least be fair for all. But, I made peace with it, as I said everything happens for a reason.

DD is disappointed this morning, mostly because admissions took so long to say it and then not so much as a waitlist, and it made it difficult for her to embrace alternate plan. She’ll be following in Mom’s footsteps and going Ivy in the fall. I wish the appointees, waitlisters, candidates and moms and dads the very best

TWE today. Unfortunate. SAT 1390, ACT 31. Medically/Physically qualified, CPR (30 Jan 2023).
Fortunately, I have an outstanding plan B in Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University NROTC, where I will attend my freshman year, pursuing an Aerospace Engineering degree.
Go Eagles!
I will be reapplying to the USNA for Class of 2028. Received my denial via email notification. Portal updated to show the dreaded "Turned Down".
