USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

When we start seeing the decisions coming out of Admissions pick up the pace, every year I think of this, the white smoke over the Vatican during papal selection.

For those receiving a declination, deep breaths, turn briskly and positively to your well-tended alternate plans and execute. Mull over re-application strategies, but let this news settle first, and then be deliberate.

Each candidate should take their time, consider all of the available information, and then make a decision before the deadline makes it for them. As stated myriad times, the timing of the candidates' decisions impact nobody other than themselves. Declined offers will be extended to other candidates, whether it is before the deadline, or after it.

DS does not know yet but he received an appointment to USNA!!! Our AL 02 congressman contacted the school to let him know his portal will change tomorrow. Principal called me. The school wants to announce it tomorrow over the loudspeaker. They told the principal he will have 72 hours to accept??? Is that normal? and now I have to keep my mouth shut for another day o_O

I am pretty sure that he will continue with USMMA but will he still get his BFE (the commemorative hard cover with offer)? I think it is a great keepsake to the accomplishment of getting accepted.
Seems off they would only give you 72 hours - maybe the principal just misunderstood. Sometimes they give Congress a timeframe to call the candidate and that could be what they mean. Definitely don't rush your decision! Seems to me like you would have until 5/1 like everyone else.

What does pending indicate though? My showed CPR back in December and then switched to Pending in January. Does anyone have any idea what that might've meant?
My son's app + noms were complete by Dec. & still pending. I asked him this after reading through some things on this forum and he told me that he was told in Jan. (I'm not sure by whom) that admissions receiving so many emails/ph calls about that status they decided to keep candidates at pending moving forward. At the CVW, admissions asked parents not to call to ask about status or ask about an LOA (still probably the best briefing I've gotten in regards to all of this). As is so much on these forums, I can't say this is 100% accurate re: status.

What happens if you fail the running part of a PRT, not saying that i would should i receive an appointment. I'll make sure I'm in great shape. Just curious.

Remedial running. Repeated failure will typically end in you being "boarded" where you will potentially be dropped from the Academy.

The wait for us is over. DS was Turned Down today. Though it is not all bad as he did get the NROTC National Scholarship offer so it is still a great path for him to become a Naval officer. My older DS is Class of '26 whom he was following the footsteps of. At least he could move on now. So, much excited and proud for both of them. Wish everyone the best!

Is USNA your DS's first choice ? If it is, then he should accept and vacate his USMMA for someone else. Congratulations !!!
No, his first choice is USMMA. I am 98% sure his decision will not change and he will give up his USNA appointment; however I am going to make sure he thinks long and hard the next 48 hours about the pros and cons of each to make sure he is making the best decision he can right now.

could very well be a mix up.

Are there large purge days or will it be a few days in succession? I keep seeing like purge days being talked about and I can’t tell if it’s one day or several days?
