USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

My guess is they are giving your MOCS 72 hours to contact you and then your portal will change.
I sure hope you are right. Thank you for the encouraging post. My heart goes out to everyone posting on here. And I love that earlier quote that the Academy is sorting through a bunch of diamonds right now. Maybe there is not enough room for all these diamonds at the Academy, but I am confident they all will find their way to serve and make a positive impact.

Lots of portal issues in the beginning, noted numerous times on this forum by various folks. Then things seemed okay. . .until yesterday. I just had a really hard time wrapping my brain around those emails and felt really bad for those kids who were in school trying to process that email and then the retraction email. I really hope today brings them fantastic news!

I just got a fully qualified offer to NAPS!!
Congratulations!!

I’d been reading this thread for a few days and my heart breaks for those with USNA dreams and hopes that get TD. My mid has been living at Bancroft for a couple years now and it has been a humbling experience in many aspects. Yes, we know kids that were high school top of the class students that just were not able to handle the demands of the Academy, a handful left during plebe year, others still struggle, but stay because they really want this, some may decided no to go beyond their youngster year, and that’s ok, this is not for everyone
USNA admissions department has been doing this for decades and I’m not sure of what their formula is but I do know their selections are pretty fool proof, they work really hard and make mistakes, like we all do and that’s expected, but their outcomes are rather accurate. I say this because while reading I realized that many of the TWE applicants in this thread have qualifications that seem higher than some of my kid’s.
The only detail I see is that during HS took every available AP class, at the end that mounted to 14 or 16, not sure now and because of how difficult this was grades were good but not all As, this while playing competitive travel sport and being involved in other extracurricular activities. I still don’t know how she did it
So, can it be that the Academy admissions team is looking for kids that are already into a very demanding routine, with probably not the perfect scores but that are going to have less trouble getting use to the high stress Academy then Officer life? I don’t know of any mid that say plebe year was not difficult, and after it’s still highly demanding but they are easing into the lifestyle
I know being TD is sad and heartbreaking and I’m sure is a punch to many amazing applicants self-esteem! But if your kid was my kid this is what I would tell him/her: take a breather, mourn if you must! But then pick up yourself and RE-APPLY if you want to serve look for other routes. If after analyzing you decide military life is not for you move on to your next plan, any school will be lucky to have this kids, that made it so far in the USNA extremely selective application process
At the end is God always wants the best for us. I wish you all the best

Does anyone know if you can still get an appointment to the academy after receiving an offer to NAPS?

Helpful

I’m not sure if emailing as a parent was the best idea. This should be your kid’s game and that is what admissions wants to see, individuals that don’t need to have mom or dad involved in the process . Honestly I would have being so happy to see my kid was still in the game. I would consider that mistake a miracle

I would say no-there has been one time I heard of someone getting a direct offer after getting NAPS. So, unfortunately, I would say no.

My mom didn't want my portal login, dodmerb login or anything. She said to me "You're going to be an adult. You don't need mommy and daddy to be checking in on you/making decisions for you all the time." Obviously I tell her any updates, but she doesn't constantly check bc she knows I'll communicate with her and my dad. She did take me to my interview cuz I was nervous LMAO.

Hopefully, this is a learning lesson for them to invest in updating their portal for next cycle
As a longtime Salesforce user at four different places which were all very different, I very seriously doubt that the TD or not TD (Shakespeare?) issue was a result of portal issues. I'd wager that the issue was on the bio side of the human/machine interface.
