USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

Oh wow, we're close! I think it's sort of competitive, Garden City & New Hyde Park is very pro-military compared to other parts of NY!
Thats what i heard but Im not 100% sure. I also don't think Im PNom but i don't even know how i would check that. Hopefully you get some good news soon!

Ctrl + Shift + J on the USNA portal, you can use this little "hack" to check the type of nomination you received! If you have a medical DQ and a waiver hasn't been requested yet, you're probably not a PNom.

Damn, unfortunately it seems like your district does do principal nominations. Hopefully you still receive an appointment!

They really are a blessing in disguise :)
It gives me faith in the system when I see candidates say positive things like this that about their BGO. Most things that I read on SAF paint an attentive, and glowing light on BGO's. Personally didn't have that experience, but I have to believe it's an anomaly. Went a few months with no replies to initial attempts at contact with BGO. Then psyched to finally secure an interview. Now, another few months have passed since the interview, and still waiting for the report to be filed. I 110% recognize that BGO's have responsibilities beyond holding the hands of USNA candidates, but I love the idea that there are BGO's that are cheerleaders for their candidates, or at least reaching out to them beyond the required interview.

Honestly, the "BGO" portion of the application has been harder and more involved then getting the DODMERB or nomination check. Like I said, it's probably an anomaly, but feels good to get it off the chest.

Best of luck to everyone gripping their armrests through the the "hurry up and wait" period.

Anyone got tips on what to do while you're waiting/how to cope with it? It's kind of killing me (and probably a lot of other people). I understand the 'there's nothing you can do about it' aspect, but it really hasn't made waiting any easier.

I got a principal nomination, but I'm going through drama with DODMERB. What does that mean for me now? Some other person from my district alr got an appointment. My status for dodmerb says waiver pending. It kind of stresses me out now seeing that principal nom probably doesn't matter anymore

Kind of curious... I received an LOA early in the process and an appt very soon after noms hit the portal from USAFA. Is there ever a correlation between the outcome from one SA in predicting the outcome from another? Very grateful to have one option of course, but curious if this means my chances for USNA are any higher or not (have a senator's and congressman's nom for USNA also)? Thank you!

Who knows. It is a good sign to get an LOA from USAFA. But is your WCS/WPS enough to win your slate? We don’t know your competition.

So I found out that I got 2 competitive alternate noms and 1 competitive nom from MOCs and I have a DAV nom. Does that put me at good odds or not really since for two of the noms I'm an alternate?

Its impossible to know, and the more you think about it the more frustrating it is going to get.

My DS also received Prin Nom and was asked for AMI and Remedial Medical test (late Jan). He went for the test Monday afternoon, and when he checked his email that night he had received an email MONDAY AM (before we went for testing) and received LOA. So now just waiting for DODMERB to update his tests.
My point is just keep working through DODMERB as quickly as you can, things can still be happening.
