USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

Do we think the rejection dump is coming like what happened yesterday with USAFA? or do we believe that they are still putting puzzle pieces? I would love to know how many who originally liked that pending comment has come off via td or appt. Can we do a recount lol.

We knew DS would get TD long time ago because he had been pending so long (since Dec 5 when he got nomination) plus he was turned down for NASS. Same profile in front two SA admission, very two different evaluations. It is more than just slate competition -- we know other candidates and appointees. We believe USNA just does not like his profile (we truly believe so) but his stats are so perfect -- they just kept him on pending long enough to make him feel better.

DD is still hopeful there is a spot for her for the USNA Class of 2028. It has been a rollercoaster of emotions waiting for a final decision. She does have a Plan B to either attend USAFA Prep or USCGAS.
Same boat with usafp and pending usna decision.

NASS is really not a great indicator of anything. It’s a recruiting tool and selection criteria not necessarily based upon stats. Geography, number of previous candidates from area and school and many other things are huge driving factors for NASS.

As to his actual application, I would not say USNA didn’t like their profile. That makes it personal. It is personal to the candidate, no doubt. But to admissions, they are working a process. Evals help turn it from purely data driven to a human element. It helps fill in gaps that might not translate well for each candidate. My guess is they had a great profile. The truth is there are only so many seats. It’s easy on this site to compare statistics, but not all that data is available to us. It’s not available to the candidate.

In 2022 my kid went to the NASS AND CVW and was TD'd within a month last year. To clarify, it doesn't matter. NASS and CVW are to introduce your DS/DD to the academy.

My DD did not do CVW or NASS. Eventually appointed to NAPS. From what I have learned from this forum is that NASS, CVW and STEM DO NOT affect appointments - as NavyHoops stated AA these are recruiting and PR events.

Yep, that was my point to the OP above.

May I ask if attending NAPS is then an automatic appointment to USNA the following year?

I meant we could easily anticipate our application TD based on NASS TD and very long pending (considering rolling admission) It was the same story -- wait and wait until last day they turned him down.

It may not be related to most of others -- but it happened to us -- we tend to believe so. It certainly helped us to anticipate what really happened -- TD as expected.

Getting a TWE and not being accepted to NASS are two very different things. Just because you did not get into NASS does not mean you don't have a chance at getting an appointment. I know plenty of current mids who did not get into STEM or NASS yet they received an appointment.
Mine is one of those!
