USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

Just remember they are also probably fighting the computer program that is new. In our family’s 20+ years of military experience… any time new software is brought online it is a dumpster fire. Just look how the FAFSA rollout has gone! Miscommunication between different systems, dumping of files, access issues, you name it. This is also good practice for military life I hate to say it. I know people want to be able to move forward and make big decisions… but these stresses will also show up with waiting for orders, scheduling TMO, access to military medical care, housing. “Hurry up and wait.”

I am glad you got the TD changed. I hope you get the good news off the wait list.

While I am happy for you, I can't help but think how unprofessional this looks on the part of admissions. To make your child wait this long, only to put him through the emotional roller coaster of giving him a TD, then to repeal it, is not a good look. It makes you start to question the competency of those making these decisions.

Fingers crossed for you and I hope they reward your son with an appointment off that wait list!
I got the same email. I already accepted a 4 year AROTC scholarship but I guess I’ll go on the waitlist. Can’t hurt at this point.

Will the TD to waitlist emails mean anything good/bad for people still pending?

Out of pure curiosity, I could see it going either way.

Has anyone received a reversal from TD to waitlist? My DS received an email today from Melody Hwang in admissions, who I believe I’ve seen on here as people receiving correspondence from. It says that they have taken another look and have placed him on the waitlist. He was turned down last Tuesday. Obviously good news, but curious if anyone has seen this before. I was active on checking the forum up until last week but with the TD we all took a break. Thanks

DS received a turn down, back to pending, then turn down … was curious as well.

It means they are on the wait list. It doesn’t mean anything other than that. If you are still pending, you are just that. If past years data holds true, there wil be some off the wait list, but not a lot. Usually the wait list is around 100. They cut this list as the class solidifies in May and June. I have seen years with zero off the list and other years with a couple dozen. The majority get a TWE in the end. USNA does not release where someone is on the list. You have the option to remain on it or not. USNA cautions to continue with Plan B. If you get the call, you get the call.

They said that I will hear back at 12PM their time (9 AM for me). I still have heard nothing, is there any news on what is going on currently? Is it possible that I will still hear from them today?

DS portal changed from pending to turn down at noon. On to Plan A-2, don’t like to call it a plan B, VT 4year AROTC. DS has become more and more excited about VT so not sure if he would have accepted USNA at this point. Won’t have to make that decision now. All in Gods plan. Good luck to those still pending! USNA can’t go wrong with any of these great candidates.

So I did call and they said it can still be a couple of days (even then it’s not a hard deadline they told me). I accepted my USAFA appointment because I don’t want to keep pushing off accepting it because USNA keeps pushing back their “deadline”. I feel so much better now and if USNA accepts me, great. But if not, I’ll be going to USAFA which has also been my dream school ever since I was little 🥳🥳

So, if USNA offers an appointment you will decline?

well, the time has come.
After months of speculation and waiting and bonding with like minds, I have been turned down.
I'm sad, for sure. It was a big dream. At the same time, I am happy to finally have some closure surrounding the process. No matter what, I know that I made myself better along the way and I made some amazing friends. I am so glad to have grown and waited alongside everyone here, and I wish everyone still pending the best of luck. thank you all for being there for me.
