USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

Does anyone know the general timeline for a MOC nomination to post on the USNA portal? My DS received 3 MOC nominations on December 22 in the mail but none have been posted on his USNA Portal......

DS received his MOC noms mid Dec and they posted the same week. I would check with your BGO asap to ensure it was reported correctly.

It depends on a number of factors, but it will show up eventually. The MOC may not have submitted it to USNA at the same time as candidate notifications went out. USNA in all probability has them, but hasn’t gotten to updating the candidate-facing portal yet, though they are probably visible in Admissions view.

It’s that time in the cycle when thousands of pieces of info from thousands of candidates are surging into Admissions - applications, noms, CFA, DoDMERB, etc., and there are not thousands or even hundreds of staffers. Add in holiday leave time and minimal staffing. Add in candidate queries.

Give it 1-2 weeks or so. Then the candidate can pop up on the Admissions website live chat widget and ask. That usually goes for about an hour midday on business days, East Coast time.

You can read similar discussion threads for the other SAs. Wide variety of experiences - some see noms posted quickly, some not as fast. They all get there eventually.

Senators and congressmen and congresswomen are required to submit their nominations by Jan 31st correct?

Recommend giving it 1-2 weeks after January 31 deadline. As posted, your MOC might wait until the last minute to submit it to USNA. No need to start getting antsy until after the deadline has passed.

BGO has no insight into this.

FWIW state of Virginia: Senator Warner has sent out notifications and Congressman Connolly, D11, has, too.
As has Kaine. DD received nom packet from Kaine a couple of days before Christmas. She received a very nice letter from Connolly over the weekend saying she wouldn’t receive his nom because she has already received one.

Yes, Va Senators and Representatives make sure they don't double or triple nominate. DD received a nom from Connolly last year. Being at NAPS she was required to re-apply for nominations, again. Went thru the interviews (via zoom) for Warner and Connolly. Both sent letters saying they would not nominate her has she already had nomination from the SECNAV. Then ended the letter congratulating her. Nice touch.

So you happen to know if Kaine emails or sends denials in the mail? DS didn’t get anything from Kaine, so guessing it’s bad news.

My congressman said decisions would be announced December 31st and I still haven’t heard anything 😐
And my two senators announce their decisions end of January but my LOA expired Jan 31st…

My DS received an email from Connolly congratulating him on receiving a NOM and then a few days later it posted in his portal. This was a week or two before Christmas. Then he received a congratulatory letter from Connolly in the mail. I was told that Wexton interviewed every applicant as this year she had less than 80 in her district where as Connolly had over 200 in his district (CRAZY!). The redistricting really affected Wexton/Connolly numbers. We heard back from Warner this year and did not receive an interview. As for Kaine we heard back in previous years so he should be sending a written letter either way. We had received written denials.

Check press releases

One released today that said he led a trip to SK, Taiwan and Japan. Can go to Southeast Asia but can’t release nomination decisions on time 😑
1/31 is the deadline, so they are on time. Not to mention it’s a staffer that does this. Hurry up and wait is a part of the military lifestyle, this is part of that. I understand everyone is anxious.

Thanks. Seems like DS won’t be getting a nomination this year. We didn’t have great expectations from our Senators, and now that we heard from our Rep, appears it is the end of the line. Not surprised because of our situation, but I guess you have to have a good outlook. Good luck and best wishes to your DS.

I ordered my transcript to my admission officer's email the Wednesday before Christmas, and obviously there was a good amount of leave, but at what point should I email to see if it got lost somewhere along the way?

Why not pop up on the Admissions pages live chat and ask? Have your candidate number handy. They usually do it for an hour or so midday East Coast time on business days - though I don’t know whether they have resumed post-holiday.
