Good luck to all during this 2029 application cycle, can't believe it is time again!! Update... my DS was turned down the 2028 cycle and is attending college on NROTC scholarship. Had a busy summer preparing for college and completing Navy ROTC NSI camp. He is currently finishing up Midshipmen Orientation the past 2 and 1/2 weeks and enjoying his unit. He still has his heart set on USNA, so we are in it again for this cycle and his is mostly complete with his reapplication. Good luck to those applying and especially good luck to the reapplicants. GO NAVY!! :groupwave:

Good luck to him this cycle!

Hi! I just joined the forum. Waiting too. Does anyone know the earliest that an LOA could be offered? My application was done and complete - application, DODMERB approved, BGO interview, end of June/beginning of July so just waiting. Everything in early to all eligible nomination sources. Just don't know if anyone has received an LOA yet or is September not realistic.

Here is my advice, don’t worry about an LOA. You need to set your mind on the fact that you might not hear anything until mid April or even a little later than that (based on last year). I know it might not be what you want to hear…but it will be this way for a significant majority of candidates. If you hear something earlier, then it will come as a surprise. In the meantime, work on other applications, work on making sure your fall semester grades are beyond par…you never know USNA could ask for your fall semester grades, work hard at sports/ECAs, etc.

DS will be a re-applicant for C/O 2029. Currently at a 4 year and participating in Marine Option as a programmer, because we want all the pain we can get in this family. Will leave it up to the admissions board as to when they want to make a favorable decision...he will keep coming back until he gets the answer that he wants.

It happens, we know first hand...

Something to look forward to on a Friday next fall.

And yes, those would be midshipmen sailing the Navy boats for background color, as their parade duty. @OldRetSWO - you were forced to do parades that way, right? What did you wear, blue polo with khakis and boat shoes while other mids sweltered on the field? I know effort, skill and time were involved, of course, but I would have been all in for that.

I did it only for graduation week and actually, I don't think that there even was "regular season" backdrop sailing during my time at USNA, just June (graduation) Week. I would be practicing either off of the Sailing Center or further out toward the bay in one or two person boats. When we did do backdrop, we really didn't have a specific uniform to wear and most probably didn't own khaki shorts (civvies) at that point. I really don't recall specifics but we were likely in regulation gym shorts.
