USNA Class of 2029 Waiting, Speculating, Hoping

This is getting real.
Nominations, Appointments;
When will we all hear?
Depending on your state and when you complete your interviews and application it can vary greatly. Noms can take a few weeks or months from what I have seen posted. USNA appointment can be quick as in my DS case, or right up until I-Day as it seems to happen to 1 or 2 every year.

In SE PA my DS was fortunate to have completed his congressional interviews by November. Received LOA from USNA on morning of 12/23 and then that afternoon notified via email that he received USNA & USAFA PA-6 nomination from Chrissy Houlahan. Then received USMA Senate nomination from PA Toomey in a letter on 12/31 and USAFA appointment in mid Jan.

I wonder when we will hear of the first appointment offer? I thought we would see one by now.

Well it was a really rough ride last year. Although DD#1 was eventually qualified through DoDMERB with no waivers needed it took them months to get their act together. There was some problem and the academy finally had to get involved. She had received an LOA and the only thing pending was medical. I had no experience at any of this and I don't think I was much help to her. She piloted this ship all on her own. She is currently a plebe in class of 2028.
But wait!
There's more!
Now after summer seminar and visiting on plebe parents weekend and talking to Big sis, DD#2 has decided to apply to USNA for class of 2029. I didn't realize I got to do this roller coaster twice! In a row no less.
I would love to do a survey of the students at USNA and find out how many are only children or firstborns. And then how many are middle children.
DD#3 is a sophomore so she would be in class of 2031 if she applies and is admitted. She has a recent health challenged to overcome first.

Good luck to all applicants!!!

Hello everyone. New (hopeful) USNA parent. DD has LOA from USNA and USMA, only unfulfilled condition was nom. Was advised by MOC committee that she is getting her nom. I'm anxious because until it's real, it doesn't seem real. Patiently waiting for the official word. I can't be the only parent this nervous.

You are not the only one. Mine got the LOA and only waiting for a NOM. By my calculation, NOM is about 50/50 for all applied. For LOA, the odd should be much better for only less than 10% appointed received the LOA. Anxiously waiting for the official NOM and the roller to a stop.

“…roller to stop…” - 🤪 - You board a new one for Plebe Summer and Plebe Year, and for every year after that. Service assignment decision-making and angst is its own funhouse, as is planning for Plebe Parents Weekend, 2/C Parents Weekend, Comm Week.
And before all of that, the run-up to I-Day and the overwhelming urge to duct tape your DS or DD into a massive ball of bubble wrap, in case they break before I-Day and get DQed from reporting in.

To all above, with LOA’s with nom being the condition: did you apply for the VP nom??

We even kept ours on travel restrictions of no more than 10 miles from the house until I-Day. Package delivered safely. LOL

100% this minus the LOA experience. Now, post commissioning the guesses keep coming.

Re @justdoit19 question re applying to all sources to include the VP? If you are eligible and haven’t applied? Get it done asap.

...we only did that because it was really difficult to drive wrapped up like the Michelin Man. We used a combination of large and small bubble bubble wrap

Yes, DD did apply for VP nom. Her BGO HIGHLY encouraged it. That encouragement came before she got her LOA, FWIW. DD is also a recruited athlete, which was part of the BGO VP nom discussion. I'm new to all of this, so I don't know how this all plays together.

The USNA website encourages all candidates to apply for the VP nom. It’s open to all. VP staff has no hands-on role. USNA manages the selection. Five appointments may be charged to this nom authority. Based on what we have seen here in the annual appointments thread, VP noms tend to be given late in the cycle. A working theory is they are given to candidates they want but who were unable to obtain a nom. But someone always gets them!

There was one mentioned received. Don't recall where but poster chose to not list on the DIY thread apparently.
