I am a Plebe at the Academy. A while ago, I was thinking that for such an old institution, I have not heard a single ghost story about it. I even asked a few upperclass in my company (Free 19!) and they do not know of any. Does anyone have a ghost story or has anyone had some creepy experience? Thank you.

I lived in one of the houses at Worden Field while assigned there. One of my neighbors who lived in similar quarters down the street, said their back stairway made creaking noises when no one was on it. In those 19th century quarters, there is a wide, graceful front staircase that opens into the entry foyer, and a narrow, dark, twisty back staircase on the other side of it that comes out by a narrow door into the kitchen/back hallway. The servants or orderlies who would have lived on the top floor or come for the day would have used it; family and guests would have used the big stairs. Our neighbor said he had heard that a servant was supposed to have fallen down the stairs and broken her neck. He said his dog wouldn’t go near the stairs, and would just stare at the upstairs door to them. This colleague was a level-headed, no-nonsense guy. We had the same stairs in our quarters. I used them once, and found them so claustrophobic, which normally wouldn’t bother me, I never used them again. They are just...creepy.

You should drop into the Museum one time and ask about any stories on the Yard!

Here's a link to a video posted by the official USNA youtube page (and shared on their Facebook at the time too if I remember right) from several years ago. There are a few stories. Most mids just don't happen to know them.
